I think it's really good Charu figured this out. It's this reason why rules exist in the first place. I'm torn because I would argue it's still legal, but I can understand and am fine with it being removed. (It kinda adds a new twist to the game almost imo? I dunno)

you have to disable bookmarks in order to play around it
and you have to do this on your phone, etc

if you have a friend/someone else and you're reading posts on their laptop or something you can similarly get boned because they have bookmarks saved

way too much of an undue burden imo

When I was in dismay at seeing mellon flipped town... I took a peek in the subforum to see who was in it about 2 hours later.

It was thesunfan and lito...

Curiously, I decided to click on thesunfan's name to see where's he reading in the thread, since lito's profile was closed.

...It was a single quoted post, y'know, the type of page where only a post is shown.

Curious, because I can't see why a town would look at a specific post in that nature, I decided to keep on sticking around to see what else thesunfan would look at.

He looks at another post, once again, in a page that only shows the quoted post.

...At this point, my blood drained, because I had a sinking feeling that thesunfan was playing me for a fool this entire time. I was put more in a sour mood because there was no way I could possibly do a 180 here to pin thesunfan down. Not after all the times I kept calling him town and acknowledging his efforts.

Of course now in hindsight, since he's actually a wolf here (will touch on this later in the post), I should've seen that it was very UN-thesunfan-ish to go hyper aggressive to Freezin earlier. But of course, poor me and him probably knowing I read into emotions too much, excused it due to a DM game.

...It sucks... it really sucks.

But here's the best part, I saw WineandBread go in the thread.

Curious again, I decided to do the same thing. Clicked on his name.

...My blood froze when I saw where he was at.

It was the SAME EXACT quoted posted that thesunfan was looking at prior.

And that's not all.

He looked at the SAME EXACT quoted post afterwards.

I smiled, I found the wolves. I fricken found the wolves!

strongly disagree, it's information that is pertinent to the game and it has been widely used, just not in this form. Think of every read or thought that anyone has ever made related to someone showing up in the bottom "Users Viewing" bar. There was even one time that lurker called me a wolf for being in thread prior to the nightkill flip. So I think it's totally fair game, but not in the spirit of TWG.

idk mang I think there's a difference in what charu did and simply scrolling down to the bottom of a game page or lurker at night to see who pops in

but I'll agree that it's not in the spirit of twg and it's stupid that we even have players, sometimes good players, using these kinds of informations

the game should be strictly in the thread imo and if there's no way to accommodate that then we should switch to a different format

I do think there's a difference but I don't think that difference makes it illegal

I think it's a flaw in the forum that needs to be addressed and that's what we're doing. in fact there already have been changes made so that this can't happen again

100% agree

Charu's play this game was killer. He solved the game while town was on the brink of death. You can call it angleshooting if you want, but he just saw public information and did the math. In AA's position I would have OKed it too.

Still, I'm glad it's a one-off and we won't see anymore games won this way. I think metainfo is okay within certain bounds, but the specific post you are currently looking at is a little much.
