Hey everyone, nice to meet you guys. So I've been playing for about a week now and as noobish as I am, I have yet to understand the whole division ranking thing. How does one know whether they are D2 or D3 for example? I've worked out that higher numbers means you are more adept, haha. Thanks for helping out this noob, and I look forward to some friendly competition.

Hello, and welcome to the forums! Nice to meet you too. It's always great having new people step up and get involved in the community.

Generally you're in a specific division if you can get consistent good scores (such as SDGing a song, e.g. 5-0-0-1) on songs in a respective difficulty range.

*tons of personal observations and generalizations incoming*

D2 players can generally SDG songs in the 30s/40s range (low on 30s, high on low 40s), maybe squeaking a few high 40s SDGs and some low 30s AAAs.

D3 players are comfortable up through the low-mid 50s range, and can perhaps get a high SDG (8-9g or so) on a few harder songs if they're a strong D3 player. A good sign you're D3 is if you've managed to unlock Otaku Speedvibe [Heavy] on a 50.

D4 players can consistently SDG low-mid 60s, could unlock St. Scarhand [Standard]. D5s can do low-mid 70s, can get Otaku Speedvibe [Oni], and so on.

There are 7 Divisions to ensure that all players are placed fairly in their respective skill brackets for both Official Tournaments and user-hosted tournaments. There may be more divisions appended in the future, and these boundaries may shift over time. However, for the time being, this list should act as a solid reference. I hope this helps.

* There are exceptions to all of these cases, including situations in regards to index/one-handed players and "outlier" scores that do not show consistency over one's levelranks, and do not merit a division bump.

Division 1 - Novice
• All those who have not developed the consistency and reading speed for Division 2
• Up to & including single digit goods on low-20's

Division 2 - Intermediate
• Difficulty 24+ AAA
• Single digit goods on high-20's, low-30's

Division 3 - Advanced
• Difficulty 50+ AAA (unlock requirement for Otaku Speedvibe [Heavy] token)
• Single digit goods on mid-50's

Division 4 - Expert
• Difficulty 58+ AAA (unlock requirement for St. Scarhand [Standard] token)
• Single digit goods on mid-60's

Division 5 - Master
• Difficulty 66+ AAA (unlock requirement for Otaku Speedvibe [Oni] token)
• Single digit goods on low/mid-70's

Division 6 - Guru
• Difficulty 79+ AAA (unlock requirement for St. Scarhand [Heavy] token)
• Low single digit goods on low 80's

Division 7 - Legendary
• AAA on high 80's
• Low single digit goods high 80's, low 90's
• Literally placed against their will

Thank you Deidara and Rawr for your warm welcomes! Also, thank you PrawnSkunk for that bit of enlightenment. I suppose this puts me in D1 for now. Currently, my highest AAA is difficulty 12 and my highest SDG is 23, so I've got some work to do. But hey I'm only a week old here, so there is plenty of time to climb my way into D2 and higher.

Here's my miserable attempts at the D2 songs, haha. It was some nice motivation to practice some songs that were a little on the difficult side for me. I feel like it was productive and I saw some improvement by the end.

Not a lot of info to go on, but you got SDG on Retro City so possibly high D2/low D3?

Quite a few good scores in the mid 40 range, so I would guess mid-D2.
