And it's that genetic mutations occur at random; however, the reason certain mutations propagate is not random: certain mutations cause an organism to be more adapted to its environment and more likely to reproduce. It's a very very very slow process as the chances of having a beneficial mutation are slim. So it's quite reasonable for complex life to have evolved over hundreds of millions of years. What I'm saying is that there is no God or other force behind the process of evolution. It occurs slowly over time on its own due to measurable factors. |

Also read what ilikexd said about evolution because it's correct. It's a process of random chance mutations and testing this mutation for survivability (which is not random). Survival of the fittest, the one that adapts the best will thrive. It's just as much a choice as it is your choice to act upon your sexual urges. There's nothing wrong with that now is there?

just because the universe is infinite (your words, not mine) does not mean these events happened.

my feeling is that it is a choice, and many people will say it isn't. I dont think that's the important part. it's the actions you do that matters more i think

Homosexuality isn't just a human thing. Other organisms practice homosexuality from fruitflys to canines. I find it difficult to separate humans from other organisms that share this planet (and developed though the process of evolution). Changing topic: As far as I've been informed, people have some interesting ideas on how our universe ended up here. From a god of some sort declaring it into existence to it violently erupting from from a incredibly dense mass with bits of matter coalescing over a period of time. Using our Theories of Physics we can outline the earliest events of the universe, and potentially infer the going-ons of the time before the bang. It's the matter of where it all started from that bothers me. Something must of just been rather than caused. I'll call this thing that's just been, God. Mostly because I have no other word for it. God exists/existed to put the pieces together and nudge stuff into motion. Whether or not it's a god that's kind or influences outcomes, I honestly can't say anything about. The Bible (hell, any major religious work) were written by men (literally, with very few exceptions) saying/believing it's the 'word of god'. The Bible was put together by the religious writings of Judaism and Christian texts floating about at the time. I'm now questioning why I wrote all this rather than trying to score well enough to win a cookie in the tourney... |

Christians pretty much came along and hijacked a bunch of shit (e.g. pagan rituals) to make it more palatable for people to convert. My point is that marriage isn't something that we need religious "permission" for in any way, shape, or form. It doesn't matter if they think it ought to be between a man and a woman. Marriage as an institution has already been morphed and mutated into so many variants over the years -- they just like to pick on this one because "ewww, gay people." |

![]() Same for marriage between multiple people for that matter. What's the reason to stop 3 or more people from marrying if they love each other? "Ew thats gross n stuff"

![]() I'd argue an important reason for trouble with gay marriage in the religious community is in the actual ceremony.
a priest/pastor marrying two homosexuals in a way is showing agreement and acceptance of their way of life. It also why some churches wouldn't allow a homosexual pastor or priest. Allow the church to decide whether they will marry homosexuals or not. The state can perform marriages, and i'd find that much more acceptable.
