Yeah, that definitely will take a degree unless you know someone to get your name out there for you. Otherwise, you'll have to find some menial position and work your way up.

Re: Dropping out of school..
I had to go back for level 4 cause all I did was piss away my last year on gaming and stuff.
As of now, im pulling 90's and 100's out of my ass, im working 30 hours a week, I have a band thats in the middle of recording a full c.d and i still spend about an hour or two on the computer a day. I did consider dropping out, but i toughed it threw and I have two back up plans, musician (which is working nicely) and work with my dad driving trucks for 26$ an hour. Still go for your diploma like I am. Its always good for last resort. I know a few drop-outs (#'s are increasing every year), and all they do is play WoW living at their parents house and smoke pot. |

Re: Dropping out of school..
Btw, I never plan on doing drugs or playing computer games if I drop out, I want to drop out to start working now, full time, instead of going to school which has absolutely no value to me, school isn't something for me.
I don't know how to explain it... Everyday I go to school, I hate it more and more.

I'm pretty sure he has. And it's "gotten" laid. Wow, now he's smart, can probably get girls, and you're the one taunting him? Please, if you'd like to be a smart ass, make your sentences in a well-written manner, so no one can come criticizing you on your fail English skills.

Re: Dropping out of school..
Just because he's smart doesn't mean he can get girls... Honestly, you make 0 sense.
Btw, even though I want to drop out doesn't mean I'm not intelligent, since I'm actually a fairly smart person.

Re: Dropping out of school..
Well, could the academic department make it so you could do the subjects that seem important for what you want to do? Like science physics for engineering and not english, etc
Because I've found english class to no use right now because Engineers don't write several page essays about books. |

Re: Dropping out of school..
That's what I want to do, I want to see if I can take classes that I want instead of the mandatory ones.
I'll take all the computer classes possible, welding, woodshop, auto, math, physics. instead of **** like french and religion.

Re: Dropping out of school..
I've been in a french school all my life, but once I hit 9th grade, I realized I won't need it and I don't care about french at all. I'm actually writing answers in french class, in english rofl.

In fact, I am a proponent of extra writing classes for engineers (yes, I am an engineer too). I have been shocked and appalled countless times at the lack of command that many engineers have of their own language. Do you know how embarrassing and frustrating it is to read a document that is loosely constructed, poorly written, and lacks effective communication? A lot of engineering - more than you can obviously envision - is paperwork, proposals, technical documents, memos, and reviews. Engineering is not just a bit of physics and calculus, and if you go on to become an engineer, you will figure this out quickly. |

Re: Dropping out of school..
sometimes you have to do the pointless, unimportant, meaningless, crap in life before you can get to the real stuff one works for. Meaning highschool is crap we all know that (I'm a junior) but college is a lot better. hang in there and don't drop out.
I agree highschool sucks, it's pretty much pointless and we learn meaningless crap for the most part. Also classes are rediculously inconsistent in teaching style. We do next to nothing in 80 minute classes for 7 hours and 20 minutes a day. I go to one of the best schools on paper but really it is one of the worst schools in reality. I totally understand how you are feeling but just work through it. And try not to take your anger out on the teachers, they are just doing their job. In fact if you really get to know some teachers, they actually agree with you about highschool and they can talk to you as guidance counselors. Sometimes all it takes is getting on your teachers good side. Talk to the man in charge of the school if you really find you need to. College is way better, it's nothing like highschool. |

You're in school for 7 hours and 20 mins O.O.... I'd kill myself.
I'm only at school for 6 hours, and I find that it's way to much.

Re: Dropping out of school..
my school is the WORST. 7:30-2:50. And to top it all off most kids only talk about grades rather than actual knowledge. That bothers me the most about my school. It's so "innocent". But seriously though, just tough it out and get your diploma.

I hope you find out what you really want to do though. It's a tough decision and I'm glad that you decided to talk and think about it before just making a rash decision. Best of luck to you. And yes, I am a sensitive bastard and I care about other people, even ones I don't know. |

Re: Dropping out of school..
Religion is easy. French is easy. Religion is a useless class. French, not so useless. Tough it out and just finish high school. If you can't even finish high school, I don't see you finishing many railings and ****.

Re: Dropping out of school..
One merely needs to look at the stats to realize dropping out of high school will do you no good at all. Yes, I agree wholeheartedly that most of the stuff we learn is completely irrelevant and won't serve us in our everyday lives. However, you've gotta at least tough out high school to get your diploma if anything. I would also highly recommend taking some post secondary, whether at a university or trade school is your choice. But hey, this is all your choice. If money or success is not one of your aims in life, then you might as well quit school because it's not getting you anywhere. The only reason I would take a break from school is to go do missionary work in poor countries: but I would still come back in the end to finish my degree.
