I actually can't play downscroll, I tried a few times and I was just phail at it

believe me though, I totally wish I was good at downscroll. all bemani games are down and I want nothing more than to be able to start out awesome on those games, but it's hard for me since I started on upscroll

Because most rhythms games feature notes that scroll downward; only a handful go upwards, DDR being one of them. To call it reverse would be a technical misnomer especially for solo, since games that use 6k+ tend to scroll downwards. IIRC, DMX (no longer continued), PPP, GuitarFreaks and DrumMania are the only Bemani games other than DDR that use upscroll. IIDX, GH, RB, DJMAX, O2, Pop'n, etc. all generally scroll downwards.

If you called downscroll on IIDX "reverse", people would look at you with no idea what you're talking about; reverse would essentially be upscroll. Makes more sense, especially with different perspectives from different gamers.

I'm pretty sure that's concise enough

so I flung open stepmania and played it a bit between other things (= a tiny bit distracted). decided to see if I can AA some xiao 1 onis now. looks like I can:

very first run of the session

sightread, I will be playing this again for sure
I played star field but didn't ss cause it was bad and didn't get around to another run

I have to say I'm proud of this score. achievement unlocked: basic chord literacy haha
