Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Some keyboards can't handle it though.
I think that's the logic.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
because they piss off newbies who have no idea what you're meant to do with them
most keyboards can't handle all sets of three presses on the arrow keys and definitely won't handle all four, and the idea of sliding across the keyboard to hit them all in one motion may be unintuitive and hard to hit with perfect accuracy (unlike stepmania where hands aren't judged until the last note, allowing hands to be marved when slid) HOWEVER, you're allowed to use hands in VCs and below if you have sufficient melodic reason to use them (i.e. at tass's disgression)

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Yeah I figured I might be able to get away with it if they were needed
I dunno It just seems kind of out of place in some of these parts to have a jump on such a heavy beat when I've been layering jumps on such minor parts. I suppose I can get away with jumps.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
No, but keymapping isn't exactly a secret. I understand many newbies probably haven't keymapped, but why shouldn't they learn how to? Intelligent players will figure out that they cannot hit the hand or quad by conventional means, and they'll poke around. It's the same for a problem in any game; if you can't solve it through one means, try another.
Not like I'm saying we should all step hands or quads, or that it isn't exactly a good reason to disallow them (I definitely understand it), but it also seems a shame to have the perfect place for an epic hand or quad and have your file rejected for it instead. Although you did say Tass will make exceptions. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
UDLR is already ideal for most purposes, tho; I think you're making an unwarranted assumption
in addition, stepmania has the option to test key input to see what can hold quads; ffr does not btw, batch notes are done

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I'm a bit confused myself, but I think he was saying he finished some update... because two posts before he said "okay finished", he said he had 40 files to go.
