I think it was because X-box paid money. I know that Harmonix is using the time to put trophies in the game for PS3 users, though.

For a relatively casual player like me, it's not a big deal. For a psycho like Tass it's probably a never-ending holy grail. MUST GET MORE GSCORE. Then again, he's too busy with Kongregate and honestly, it's way too farking expensive to spend upwards of sixty dollars for each 1,000 points. Getting certain achievements is fun, though, and I'm prety fond of Rock Band 2's list. Rock Band one has the "Big In <Location>" achievements which I probably won't ever be bothered to finish. Ah well. Everyone plays differently! Obsessed gamers are no gayer than casual gamers, &c &c. |

Try a place that is not known for gaming or electronics. I got mine at Target... got my Rock Band bundle there last year too.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
My Ion kit came while I was sleeping yesterday. I plan on busting it out of the box when I get home from work in the morning.
I'm proud of myself though. I went to sleep at about 12:40, planning to sleep for the next 10 hours, only to wake up around 3 and see that someone had brought in a large box. Quick investigation and minor deduction told me it was my drums, but rather than stay up and play until I had to go to work that night, I went back to bed and actually got a decent amount of sleep. This is an especially big deal because I've lately become accustomed to getting 3~4 hours of sleep or less when there is something worth staying up for. But yeah, I'll be reporting back on the subject sometime later this morning. |

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
checking in
Cymbals suck ass at sensing hits. Pads are amazing. Everything else is great. Took a lot of work to set it up though. The customizability that came thanks to it though was totally worth it. Chalk that up for one in the GH vs. RB category though, I think. If these cymbals are balls, I hate to think how the standard GH will fair, and the fact that they're dedicated and unavoidable. At least on the RB kits you can choose to not use cymbals that can only sense most hits. Maybe their method of hit detection will be more effective than this **** too... can't wait to see how they stack up though now that I've experience what is supposed to be "premium". ps for comparison, I was 100%ing these things in drum trainer easily if I used the yellow pad, but if I used the cymbal, every fourth or so hihat hit was counted as a miss. Seriously, I was just doing 8ths on the hihat and it was missing like 1/5th of all the notes. Kinda pissed, because I'm probably going to have to buy pro cymbals or something now. The Ion website gave some crap about "this equipment is calibrated and other **** sucks", but it's just a quarter inch jack-- how could other equipment not send the same signal? edit: i decided I didn't like how the pedal felt, so I put a 1/8 to 1/4 adapter on my RB1 pedal and it works just fine lul edit: some testing has led me to believe that my cymbal can't sense things in certain spots. Many of these areas it can't sense are in spots I'd never hit. However, it appears as though an area where it can't sense is right where I'd be hitting all the time. I mocked up an image showing it. The one around the center is understandable, but why the hell would it not be able to read those other areas? It can read toward the edge of the rubber, it can read the center, but it can't read between? Incidentally, I haven't seemed to have any problems on the one I've got for green. Feels great to use and I haven't noticed any catastrophic failures there. Only thing on this front is that it feels weird to hit the high up cymbal and the snare at the same time; I have red/green associated in my mind as being on the same level. edit: finicky piece of ****... all of a sudden the cymbal seems to be sensing good. I'll have to keep an eye on it, but perhaps my first impression wasn't an entirely accurate one.

Re: Rock Band. More Awesome.
I made a video from a mix of pissing about on movie maker and my cousin and one or two of my friends asking what fingertapping is all about and how you do it etc. So I picked solo h and m from GGaHT's as it's like my fav part to finger tap.
