Yay for you two.

Take the time you need to get acquainted, then post your Wii number in the thread.

Just got a wii this morning. I'm very very happy with it. All I've played so far is wii sports. Unfortunately, I have to go back to school, I was home for the weekend, so I won't be for another week or two.

Honestly, Wii Sports has been the most fun so far. I have yet to crack open Elebits, and Wario Ware was tons of fun, but it kept ****ing up and not doing what I wanted it to or I'd have absolutely no idea what to do and flailing the remote and mashing buttons didn't have any effect on what happened on screen. Hopefully I can get past that, because without those things I said, Wario Ware would be the best.

Oh and Twilight Princess picks up eventually, right? I mean... I feel like I should at least have a weapon by now and all I've done so far is just run around doing stupid ****.

Wii Sports has been great so far... my family loves it. Elebits is really fun so far... I had to set my Wii up upstairs for now, so I didn't try TP yet.

Afrobean, you needs to be at least three feet (preferably more) away from the screen, and be sure that your sensor bar is set up properly. I discovered that WarioWare, with the setup I had on Saturday needed the Wii Remote to be pointed a little lower than expected. We were quite close to the TV, though.

As a side-note, the sensitivity in the menu is important. 1 is for close-up players and 5 is for far-back players. Though, if you see more than two blinking lights, you're better off just finding the number that suits you best.

I have a pretty bad setup because I'm usually 3-4 feet from the bar, so it's on 1. And if I back up (say, while playing Wii Sports) I cannot even go ten feet away or the remote drops out of the bar's range.

I never thought of adjusting sensitivity. I don't know if that was it. It was more of how the controller must be positioned to pick up with LEDs from the sensor bar.

I need/want some random input from people.
Anybody wanna recommend a game or two? I've got enough money for two games and really need some more gameplay anyway. I have zelda and tony hawk's downhill jam. I'm looking at: Wario ware (probably would need/really want an extra controller though), Red Steel (My sister mainly wants this but I thought it could be a good game despite the reviews), elebits, and COD3.
Basically any recommendations or input is greatly appreciated.

I recommend saving your money. Don't spend money just because you have it. Wait for a game that doesn't suck, or buy from a console that actually has, you know, games, like the 360 or the PS2.

If you lack the above consoles or even if you have them, consider getting some used Gamecube games you've never owned that are really cheap yet have 8.0+ press average. There's a lot. Just list your Gamecube game collection and I can give you every game you're missing in order of how you need them.

Yes, I'm serious. Stop focusing on the mediocre Wii games and get the greatest GCN games out there, or at least some good PS2/360 games.

Don't listen to Squeek for any advice on buying games. His library isn't top notch, so he'll probably tell you to get an okay game when there are games 1,000 times better that you don't have. I'm the kind of guy who can't settle for a game less than 8/10 except in rare occasions, so I'll give you the finest.

I went to EBGames today, and they were out of WarioWare.

So I went a bit farther down to Gamestop, and got their last copy. =D In addition, I asked if they had any Phoenix Wright 2 preorder items left (I wanted that thing like you wouldn't believe), and the awesome guy there let me have one if I preordered something else, which I did (FF6). I also found season 2 of House, M.D. used, which I had been looking for.

Thinking the day couldn't get any better, I ran into two people sitting by the sidewalk with a couple of ADORABLE DOGGIES that I got to pet and love and donate food money to.

Ahh. Couldn't ask for much better than that.

I don't see what you're basing my lack of taste on, carbo. I read reviews, watch demos, and decide for myself what I think I'll enjoy. If I enjoyed it, I'll pass it along to others.

I've always said the only way to determine if you like a game is to watch gameplay videos from people, not from the company. Better yet, play the game. I'd never buy a game on name alone.

I'd say 3/7 of my Wii titles rock and are totally worth it no matter who you are. Zelda, Wii Sports, and Elebits. WarioWare is heavy on the party-mode, and Trauma Center is somewhat of a niche. Monkey Ball is great, but a little short. Red Steel was sub-par.

I have 42 Gamecube games and I don't even want to bother sifting through those... I've posted the list before. You basically need Super Smash Bros. no matter who you are. Metroid Prime is most excellent. Tales of Symphonia is gonna be the RPG you'll want. Mario Kart is the racer. Paper Mario is another good RPG for you as well.

How do I have bad taste. Just explain that to me.

Edit: Speaking of Paper Mario, Super Paper Mario is set to come out in April. Oh, and A Link to the Past is on the Virtual Console now.

ZOMG! They stoles my ideas!

According to game informer:

"California's Interlink Electronics is suing Nintendo for patent infringement, claiming that the Wii's remote too closely resembles Interlink's trigger-operated pointing device. Interlink is seeking a restraining order on Wii sales, damages, and a reimbursement of legal fees."

What the hell? Whenever something's successful it seems all these 'great' ideas come out of the wood work to sue.

Never said you had bad taste. You don't like FF:CC and I only recall you liking like one really bad game, but we all love bad games sometimes. You're not bad.

The thing is, you settle for worse games (not bad, just not better) easier than me. That's fine and dandy and all, but I'm more stern on games that are worse, so IMHO when it comes to buying games my opinion is more valuable since I'll be more likely to suggest games that give more bang for your buck and are less of a risk 8)

Yeah... I was sitting on the floor about 3 feet away. I tried getting up onto the love seat I have (probably about 2 more feet and off the floor, that is to say, on level with the TV/sensor bar)and that didn't help random things like that either. I wish it just displayed a cursor on the screen for those games where if you don't point at the screen, you pretty much 100% lose.

I tried screwing around with sensitivity, but I didn't notice a difference, so I left it as it was.

blargherness, don't listen to Carbo. I haven't gotten far into Elebits, but it seems fairly good so far, and Wario Ware, despite me having random fits of it going "dur ur not pointing at the screen u lose", it's still awesome. Just check out some gameplay videos on youtube or something or see if you can get a friend to get it first to try it out haha.

You mean to tell me you enjoyed Crystal Chronicles?

HOW?!

First of all, fact is, they totally made that game to milk funds from fans of the Final Fantasy series. In order to play multiplayer you had to have the GBA->GC link. That was so lame.

Second of all, one character wasn't even able to do much of anything. They had to carry around that stupid chalice. It sucked. Oh, battle. Put it down. Battle's over. Pick it up.

Third, it ended way too quickly. A friend and I beat the game in an hour. Then it was like "oh yay year 3" WHICH WAS A REPEAT OF YEAR ONE. Same goes for year 4. Year 5. Year 6.

The game was so poorly made I cannot see how anyone enjoyed it. But that's just me.
