I'll be ahead of you next time it updates... but if ur ahead of Nima, you'll be 3rd still anyways, being that he doesn't play anymore... I've always favored SM over FFR... but I try to keep a mix so I get the social/competetive aspect and can play in school... Sometimes I get messed cuz of the difference in timing etc. but I've grown accustomed to switching back and forth...
Good job w/ Snow btw... yet another stepfile to add to my "need to download" list...

I agree with the concept... but just one logical problem... what if someone hasn't played all the songs b4? would you force a person to play the easy songs enough times to get a good rank? I personally don't like spending time playing the easy songs, and you know how it is, a couple greats and suddenly you're below the 100's in rank... What about songs not yet accessible by a player, shud someone be penalized just becuz they didn't purchase all the songs yet?
If you would want to simply not calculate those songs into that person's average, then what if someone good makes a new acct. and plays one song and get's ranked 1st in just that song... then that wud make them first no matter what, cuz they're average is as small as possible (1)... Maybe if instead of averaging the ranks, you summed a person's best scores for each song, and highest total is best... This way, there's like an automatic weighting so that songs of greater difficulty or greater length are more valuable than easy songs... For example, 2 greats on an easy song is negligable because it is easily made up for with an additional 2 greats on a score for a harder song... Then I guess you wud hafta penalize those who can't access every song, and assume that anyone who is missing any secret or purchased songs is not among the best...

who is in first anyways? I never knew who was up front... I thought I was doing good with 93 out of 1/4 million...lol
*EDIT* Now that I think of it... for alot of people it would probabyl be hard to get up in ranks. Like say you really sucked at first and you failed so many songs, then got better and stuff... All of those games before would still count... Do you think that I would have a better chanceif i started a whole new username?

I wouldn't consider making a new name even IF somehow the rules of the rank were changed. It's just a stupid way to make your alter ego better than everybody else. What do you prove out of that? Most people here already stated that they built their way up / failed out of many songs which will cause their points per game to be much less than a newbie who played FF7 and PCd it somehow.
The system we have now is fine because, as was stated before, you need skill to be able to gain points faster than those ahead of you (Or require them to take a leave of absence for a while...). When the siggys first came out I was rank 500 or something. Now I'm 62, and by the next update I'm sure to be in the 50s. And BigMac, Jimerax is #1. Apparently now OrigamiKid is #2 and Alainbryden is #3, but only off by a few million. Since Nima stopped FFRing he will drop more and more as time progresses. ~Squeek |
