FFS.
The company ily linked e-mailed me back telling me "derp it's discontinued, +25$ for shipping cause we only have one in Vancouver."
That's retarded.
I'm still getting it though. I'm just hating that I'm paying more for it. $61 is already crazy high.Comment

Re: Best Keyboard to play FFR on?
You need to pay more for it because FFR is serious business.
@topic: Any flat keyboard is the best for rhythm games. Fast response, comfort, I use one (I don't recall its name) and I think I do very good with it.

Re: Best Keyboard to play FFR on?
If you guys are up to the point that the keyboard makes the difference, then you're all hopeless. Is there any pianist who refuses to play or play badly because they didn't have their Bosendorfer 290 imperial ? Bullshit.
Well, there IS Glenn Gould with his Steinway & Sons but that's completely differentComment

Re: Best Keyboard to play FFR on?
I take it you haven't played FFR/SM on a variety of keyboards lmao
Also, being a pianist, I can say that my style of play for a particular piece is almost completely influenced by the tone I receive from the instrument. Pianos with brighter tones often lead to my playing being more aggressive, and I tend to overemphasize most dynamics within the song, compared to pianos that produce a more mellow tone, where I'll usually play slower, quieter, and completely abuse the pedal during several passages that originally never called for it.
Sure, I don't think I play any worse on either piano, but my approach is adaptable. And, to hilariously drive my point back to FFR, same thing with keyboards lmao, I've played FFR at quite a few of my friends' houses (on lag free computers) and I've always scored much better on Erik's computer (who owns a keyboard with scissor-keys) compared to my other friends who own keyboards with much clunkier keys that pop out. Unless I consciously alter my 'hand technique' while playing a certain file (lol this is starting to sound much more technical than I thought it would, FFR srs bsns etc.) by constantly reminding myself that I need to keep my fingers close to the keys at all times (my fingers tend to pop back further on keyboards with keys that pop out, slowing stream/jack speed), then yeah, I can do a bit better. But lol, who has time to think about that shit when they're playing this game.
tl;dr - keyboards make a massive difference, and I bet a ton of active players are probably in skill ruts due to limitations imposed on them by their keyboards

I completely agree with you. Although I prefer using superbly weighted keys on the piano (thx to my baby grand) and really flat keys for FFR.
My fingers are of equal strength but I prefer using a flat keyboard for more speed.Comment

Yes.
Any moderately skilled pianist in the world could tell you that the make and age of a piano makes a HUGE difference in the way you play it and the sound you get.Comment

Re: Best Keyboard to play FFR on?
If they only have one in stock... omfg.
Edit: TigerDirect.ca is selling them, lower price, and as far as I can tell, still in stock. Total came to $48, which is MUCH better than the other shitty store who can't get their shit together.Last edited by MaxGhost; 09-28-2011, 12:58 AM.Comment

Re: Best Keyboard to play FFR on?
lmao the email I received said they have five left, but if that's a lie for whatever reason, I think you're SoL bud. I placed the order as soon as Byron posted the link hahaha
edit: oh fuck, you're right...eh, only problem for me is that it's not a secured site, and I don't want to risk any potential complications with my dad's credit card, he'd go batshit insane :/
edit2: scratch that, I just saw the massive 'PROCEED TO SECURE CHECKOUT' button~
