Re: The Video Game Mega Pack 4 (RELEASED!)
heh meyb not Bad but i definitely got a long list of which ones blew way out of proportion in terms of how great they were. im looking at the streamy files so far (goon twins, name entry, silver surfer, betrayal) and more, but gunna give more time before i write down wut i did and didnt enjoy in stone.
btw, the hard chart is the real chart. challenge was a experiment on difficulty spiky patterns (especially the ending), so dont feel bad if you cant hit the end. its not meant to be hit.

Re: The Video Game Mega Pack 4 (RELEASED!)
Is there a review template somewhere? Might be nice to add that to the OP because simply typing the names of every file is going to take like 15 minutes to do by hand lmao

Here's something for now though at least...there are a few songs missing in the list, although I'm at work at the moment so I can't do much. Maybe someone good with Excel can set up a fillable template? Haha. Otherwise I'd do it but honestly I'm super burnt out with working on anything related to the VGMP 4 XD

The image generator songlist preview program can also generate a text review template. Input that to an spreadsheet and tada!

Re: The Video Game Mega Pack 4 (RELEASED!)
I'll review files starting from the end! I played the highest difficulty all the time (if I can't pass highest difficulty, I go to heavy)
Will update this post until I die Ending Theme (MarioNintendo) I made this file, I think it's very good! I especially enjoy the drumming. Playing it now, I enjoy it better on sm5 than sm3.9. Who would've thought. Your Best Nightmare (CyclopsDragon) COOL XMOD FILE, this is like the perfect rendition of that boss fight in stepmania. No lua script necessary! The bg change was super effective: I adore this file. You're Izayoi (MarioNintendo) Jacky file, from Dynamite Headdy! I hope you will like it, guys This file makes me smile. How fast can you play this on rates? Yoru no Nikusyokujyo (Jombo) I find it crazy to think I've owned Contra Hard Corps for all those years and never even thought of stepping that one. I really like the streams and the small bursts, they were a highlight for me! Working Together (Porky Pink) LOL THIS SONG SOUNDS SO MUCH LIKE THE FLINTSONES, CAN'T UNHEAR IT!!! I loved the steps. Porky Pink, you're amazing <3 Work Harder (3-T Scroat) 3-T SCROAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT I had to first learn the song on cmod... sorry... but it was sweet when I was able to play it on xmod! ) The background changes were hilarious cough Wiosna (rCaliberGX) First time I played this song it was on 2.5x haha Maybe it's my headphones, but I hear some audio tear, like if it was amplified too much.... ah well, matter not. The file is super sweet. It's a nice break after Work Harder, actually. Thanks rGX for this sweet sweet piece! Wind-Blooming Mountain (Yesssss) I was eager to playing a new Yessssss release, and this one sure didn't disappoint! Where do you find these games... "Atelier Meruru"???? The moood is so nice here... Thanks for this file, I really like it Wind Waker Unplugged (wv) Isn't this song already on FFR? rofl cute song wv Where You At (MooMoo_Cowfreak) Smash rap! I loved the color theory. :> War Season (dub) Where did dub come from?? That file was brutal, and had an alien feel to it.... An unexpected delight! Volcano - Kamishimo X68000 mix - (Nullifidian) Psyvariarrrr!!! I love the swing feel of the song. In my opinion, it's a bit too long, but that's just one man's opinion (considering Tsuka liked it so much, it's probably just fine the way it is ;P). Classic Nullifidian. You keep making these classics like it's no big deal! Variations of Castle (Charu & Gradiant) At first I was like "hey this is cute" but then no you had to make this like one of the most jawdropping files I've ever played... The progression is out of this world. Truly a highlight for me so far, a must-play. Underwater BGM (Lofty) The most artistic file of the bunch. Too meta for me though ;P Underwater (MarioNintendo) :3 I made this and I like it a lot Twister (porkypink) Holy shit porky pink lol back at it again x) I love your stepping style and song choices so much... You're an excellent stepper, top tier. Please, never stop stepping. I love your ideas and your execution. |

Re: The Video Game Mega Pack 4 (RELEASED!)
~~My totally relevant and well put together reviews (pt 1)~~
(I'll post other parts in separate posts to pad my posts count heheheheh) Three levels I used: -Amazing; I'd go back to this pack just to play it. -Decent; if I'm stumbling through the pack I may play it occasionally. -Unimpressed; likely would just skip right past it. Please do note that unimpressed doesn't mean it's bad, it just means I don't like the file relative to other ones in the pack, and I also have very niche tastes. Also if you're in the mood for noting still, please also note that if a file was on the fringe of decent and amazing, I'd always round down, likewise with unimpressed and decent. Gotta conserve those high ratings bruh! .3X3CU73 The fakes were cool and well thought out, but wasn't a big fan of the hard file's patterns, and the oni file was jacking so just not for me. Unimpressed. A Beautiful Day For Golf Short bursty file, fun and sweet and the charting as a whole makes sense. I'll be coming back to this to improve my score someday, but this type of file just isn't my thing. Decent. Abyss Stage (Phase 3) Another short file, but less bursty and more consistent patterns. Super simple, but a lot of fun. I loved this file, bravo. Amazing. Airship Stage Fairly easy file, with some bursty sections scattered throughout. It's fun, but I just don't like bursty. Patterns all worked well though, etc. Decent. Alien Lair I didn't enjoy this file. It hurt my hands, the jacking wasn't my cup of tea (though it wasn't too fast so I had a chance at least), though I also don't like the music as a whole here. Not poorly executed, just poor for my tastes. Unimpressed. Alien's Lair Not to be confused with Alien Lair (despite being from the same game, what's up with that????), this file was fun. There's jacking sure, but it's the kind I don't mind. A short and sweet file, patterns make sense and it's a good exercise to practice a bunch of different patterns and techniques. Nice for a warmup for my purposes. Amazing. All Over The World This file was really nice as well, I'm becoming very fond of based cerdo_claro, seriously great job cutie. Again, a short and sweet file, but fun patterns and such. I'm out of positive adjectives after only 6 files, oops. Amazing. Angel Island Zone Fuck those trills man. Alright file otherwise. I'd come to this for trilling practice mostly, but other than that might not be coming back. (Only played the Oni) Unimpressed. EDIT: Heavy chart isn't focused around trills, and is redeeming etc. It's a pretty fun file after all (cute song too). REVISED: Decent. Armor-Plated Armadillo Actually, this was a good file. It's nice introductory jump and hand stream, with some good streamy bursts. Nice for anyone else who's shitty like me and wants to practice that kind of thing. Nothing special here though. Decent. Art Through Adversity Oni was a joke hahahahahahhahahah longjacks. The heavy file though, I didn't mind. Jacks still at parts, but at least my fingers don't break. Don't skip this one, but maybe don't expect to fall in love. Decent. (Oni gets a frowny face from me though) Ashley's Song (JP) Cute as fuck song. It doesn't go on too long, the patterns aren't too annoying or stamina draining, and even the jacking sections are sparse and well placed enough to get my seal of approval. Amazing. Baba Yetu Hi19 never fails to deliver on the meme files. Fun easy song, holdstream etc etc, this is the kind of file I'd recommend to someone who wants to get into keyboard files. I turned it up to 2.0x for shits and giggles, and it's still a fun file. Wheeeeeeeeeeee, baby yetu. Amazing. Balloon Fight Medley This file is legit so fun. Something about the accelerating trills gets me off every time I see them. Minijacks are sweet too, and the patterns are just very enjoyable. Amazing. Battle 2 Minijacking file, so naturally I'm a bit biased against this file. It's fun though, it reminds me of the old FFR packs. Decent. Battle! Deoxys Only played the oni, wasn't very happy though. Jacks with jumps, 24th streams, both things I don't like much. Again it's not a bad file, I just dont like it. Unimpressed. Battle! Ho-Oh Nothing very special about this one, a lot of jumps and such. I don't really know what to say about it and don't feel like bullshitting since I need to save my bullshitting stamina for papers and such. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. Unimpressed. Battle! Legendary Pokemon Generic jumpstream, but better than the above. At least this one was more enjoyable with the slows etc. Decent. Battle! Lugia This Hi19 pokebattle trilogy has been a wild ride. This one's much more fun than the previous two, it's not just jumpstream anymore, as this one is complete with jacks (yay!) and such. Better but still not my fav. Decent. Battle! Trainer Battle Ok this file was a ton of fun, though very easy. Glad to be off the pokebattle coaster, but it finished with a fun one. Again in the list of files I'd recommend to newer players. Amazing. Betrayal The file name was fitting, because I feel I got betrayed by the difficulty spike. It started off so nice and tame, but then suddenly poof, enjoy losing your AAA! But still not a bad file by any means. It's just either too easy or suddenly much harder. Decent. BGM II Oni is another jackfest. >. Heavy file was fun though, some jacks but it was in a tame way. It was like playing with a cat, it's fun and even if it bites you can laugh it off despite a bit of pain. The oni file was like playing with a big bear. It starts ok, but then you die. Unimpressed. Big Blag's Lair Another instance of a jacking file I actually enjoy to an extent. Good use of holds and the minijacks were beneficial rather than a deficit. Nice. Decent. Black Rain I've always thought that the best lenghty songs are the ones that feel short, and this one only felt half as long as it was for me. Nice job. Quick streams but were fun to hit, slower sections, faster sections, all around a fun and well thought out file. Amazing. Blade's Stage I think what makes MarioNintendo files so unique and good at times is he has the balls to step in a way that most people wouldn't. The patterns in this file were aids as fuck, but they fit well. I didn't like this file much, but props for your style man. Don't become a normie please, the world needs people like you to chart in unique ways. Decent. Blue Field & Catch'em Theme Cool file, I like how it changes pattern styles throughout. It was fun, would recommend. Especially the first half or so, syncopation is always fun. Decent. Boss Theme Dude this theme was boss (hahahahahahahah). Nah seriously though great file. Works well on rates. It's a good testament to how a good file doesn't need to be hard nor complex. Amazing. Can You Really Call This A Hotel, I Didn't Receive A Mint On My Pillow Or Anything Cute, easy morale booster, nice for accuracy testing, etc. Do people actually get mints on pillows in hotels though? Also, goes in the list of songs for newer players. Also obligatory >undertale Decent. Carnival Stage Nice and fun, I'm glad I played it and would definitely go back. Not the best for rates, but hey it's a good experience. The bursts, unique patterns, and syncopation work really nicely. Even the jacks are fun. Amazing.

I really should've labelled one difficulty as "TRILL HERE" and the other "NO TRILL HERE", huh.

Re: The Video Game Mega Pack 4 (RELEASED!)
Fuck it, I'll post reviews in a new post lol
Tube of Medusa (Tsuka) Those jumpstreams were so coooooool! Especially the part after the JS which went "blaerhgblaberhgbarhelrhghabler", AMAZING I didn't really understand what the minijacks went though in the middle, to be honest xP That jumpstream was memorable. Try Again (bmah) I dare anyone to AAA this... These minijacks are MEAN! Can you do that shit yourself, brent? :P Anyway, it's nice to see this song in its complete form, and it's definitely a worthy addition to the pack. One that I won't AAA anytime soon, though... lack of skill oblige! Truth and Power (MacGravel) All I was thinking when playing was "oh man I want to see these crossovers done on pad" :P Someone, please video this for me Tropic of Capricorn (cerdo_claro) I love the part when the "guitar" wails right before the end... haha, gets me every time I think this is a nice scoring file, like for competition. You did a great job, cerdo!! Training Mode v1.5 (ferrari) Why v1.5? That sax sounds so silly, lol. Anyway, this is A+ stuff, if this is a taste of what's to come from cedolad, I can't wait :3 There are some parts in there that felt understepped to me, but really who cares at this point... The file is super fun! Theme of Frank West (Ferrari) This file sounds like it was made to be stepped... Straight out from a DDR game, lol! I loved the grace notes and small bursts <3 Their Own Brand of Justice (FoxX) How have I never heard this song before? 0_0 It's right up my alley, that crunchy Sega Genesis sound....... HGNNNNNN!! This was perfectly stepped, not much I can say! Had tons of fun with that one. Thanks FoxX! The Void of Space (MarioNintendo) I made this file :3 Be honest: have you ever heard of Verytex before? The Valedictory Elegy (hi19hi19) Top five contender right here! Shame on using the Edit difficulty, even more for numbering it 10, just like the heavy difficulty (probably not hi19's fault though). Super super fun. Play the Edit version, it's oni goodness The Only Thing I Know For Real (Scylaax X Kommisar) TOP FIVE CONTENDER HOLY SHIT THIS WAS AMAZING PLS MARRY ME The Mysterious Murasame Castle (MarioNintendo) I don't think it's my best file, but DUDE DID YOU SEE? 3 DIFFICULTIES OMG The Legend Of Zelda 25th Anniversary Medley (wv) This file just oozes love. Going in, I was doubtful it would manage to keep me interested the whole way through (I already knew the song, saw it in concert twice!), but man, you pulled it off! Every quad felt epic, and necessary. Props dude, that was a huge commitment you undertook, but it paid off! The Apparition (cerdo_claro) I swear, this file played itself... It's so fluid, my fingers just "felt" the note to press without having to look at the screen, lol! Gotta admit, I'm not a fan of the (12)(34)(12) you did for the splash sound, but probably some people do. The rest of the file, oh my. Top five contender! Temple (MarioNintendo) I'm pretty sure this is the greatest file I ever made... At least, it's my favorite right now. Please tell me you like it x3 Temperance and Vengeance (Tsuka) DUDE THESE BGM CHANGES WERE FRESH AS FUUUUUUCK HAHAHAHAHAHAH Hopefully by now you know I already love the file. In fact, more than just for Stepmania, I want to play this real loud in my hotel room at AN2016. How does that sound? TAKE OFF (MarioNintendo) AAA this and I'm yours forever Swamp Stage (cedolad) lmfao this sax is so dang silly xD cedo, I love you Super Smash Bros Melee Theme 8 Bit (hi19hi19) I remember AAA'ing this live in the SMO session... amazing feeling! I love the file, just as much (well, almost as much) as I love corn. Seriously, hi19....... you make stepping seem so easy, I'm jealous :P I will cherish this file, and I definitely have to check out Bulby now! Sunahara Plains (CyclopsDragon) WHEW......... I played the heavy version in SMO, not realized there was an oni for this, holy shit! Nice stamina practice Just like the vgmp4 boxart said! The dubstep part killed my combo ( hehe, this won't be the last time I play this file. In fact, I expect to skillboost thanks to it in the future! Streamworks (Saliva Island) (Tsuka & MacGravel) I lost my combo because I kept staring at Shantae's boobs Steel Massimo (Tim) TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIM my boy, that was fun Staff Credit (MarioNintendo) :3 heheh Splash Down (bmah) These steps are FRESH as FUCK mannnn. Also, no bmah syndrome, what? I could AAA this... :P Honestly, the song wasn't 100% my cup of tea, but the steps were absolutely wonderul and guaranteed that I'll be coming back for more of these 24ths quick jumpstream (man I loved those!) Sortie (MarioNintendo) THIS SONG IS FREAKING EPIC (steps are probably lame) BUT THE SONG, HOLY BALLS, EPICNESS. THANKS HITOSHI SAKIMOTO Song That Might Play When You Fight Sans (CyclopsDragon) I fought sans, and never heard this song :V I wasn't sure about having undertale songs in this pack (I loved the game, but hated the fandom around it)... but this proves me wrong yet again. These songs are so fresh, so filled with memories! Thanks for stepping this even after the hype for the game died off. Skydeck A Go! Go! (Ferrari) TOP 5 CONTENDER NUFF SAID NICE SOLO BTW Skate Or Live (Nullidifian) I.... loved this 0_0 Silver Lining (Scylaax) Whoa, definitely 100% different take on how I would've stepped this song. Much more mines than I anticipated! Escathos music, man... you can't go wrong. Thanks for bringing this music to the pack, everybody should have this soundtrack. Oh, and nice chart btw Shard (Combat) (hi19hi19) Pretty fun, corn! I'll be playing this again as warmup file Samekichi's Resolve (James May) I had way much more fun with this than I anticipated from listening to the preview music. Sick layering, dude. ) I made my girlfriend play this song and she loved it too! Sally (Select) (MooMoo_Cowfreak) THERE IS DODONPACHI MUSIC IN THIS PACK??? WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I had never heard this song before. I literally jizzed. Hi moomoo_cowfreak, are you reading this? I jizzeed!!! Ruins of the Giant (bmah) At first, I thought I was doing pretty good... then I started missing holds... then my combo vanished... lol, but that's ok! It's my fault, I got tricked by the syncopation :P Top five contender file, my fav so far from bmah!! River Stage (cedo) My favorite of the MvsC2 songs so far (no thanks to that awkward singing). Everything just rubs me the right way. Ringo's Theme (Kommisar) Honestly found the song forgettable, but THESE STEPS ARE SLICCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK AND FLUIIIIIIID 10/10 top five contender, even at volume off lol Rhythm and Balance (bmah) I'm not a fan of the song (muffled voice, no clear melody...) but when the DJ scratching began, this is when I started really enjoying myself. Had fun with this one, despite first impressions! |
