Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
I got one finished file and one file in progress I'd like some feedback on.
The finished one: Song: Naughty Oaf's Isle Artist: Shnabubula Style: 8-bit funk or something Difficulty: VC? Dunno, it has some spikes, but overall pretty easy. Specific worry: technically correct, but annoying jacks The one in progress: Song: Song to the Pharaoh Kings Artist: Al Di Meola Style: Metal (?) Difficulty: Again VC I suppose, for the same reason. Specific points: - BPM keeps changing slightly. It's a live recording, plus it is rythmically complex and there are lots of BPM shifts. I'm doubting between keeping the BPM as it is now or using constant BPM sections. - The start is a long guitar solo, which I wrote as a hold-stream. Is this ok or should I use the holds more sparingly? - The 24th/48th part gets boring really quickly. I tried simple layering, but the constant jumps don't seem to offer a lot of memorable playing moments. Any ideas? Its ok
Kinda boring but you did pretty good for what the song provides I think. Song choice would prevent me from replaying it, along with it being a bit easy for me. I could see this being fun for maybe some beginner players. Look forward to seeing other files from you. 8/10 file but the song just isn't for me |

4-key Eurobeat (some new style of Eurobeat like J-Euro, Aishu, Ponybeat, from what I've heard) Eurobeat file I've been working on for a while now. Haven't touched it in a couple of months. Mostly making it for my own pleasure, but feedback is appreciated. Anything better than complete shit is cool with me. Last edited by otter87; 02-22-2014 at 09:50 PM.. |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
In my understanding of the rhythm game community today, I was very happy to see a man named CAFO submitting a file whose simfile deemed to be regarded as for beginners by another human called wafles, this seems to be very rare today. As a beginner I can directly dismiss this statement because when I tried CAFO's song the chart overwhelmed my slightly hairy fingers like a german blixtkrieg-attack in Poland 1939. However, the song was pleasing to my ears, no fargin dubstep, no fargin japcore. The metronome didn't complain that much either.
Verdict: 6/10 I'm gonna experiment with this myself and to a much, much, much easier version for me to play when I'm sitting on my toilet. Good times. |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
Bump.
Here's 4 charts I've thrown together over the past few days, I gave myself an hour to chart as best I could for each of them. They're rushed, beginner/intermediate KB files with an emphasis on slow jacks, jumpstream and short trills. Overall nothing exciting but I'm curious to hear peoples thoughts on them and how I could improve them. Mourningfiles Edit: Stepmania's being a pain so I haven't had the chance to test them myself yet, I hope at least one of them's enjoyable~ Also, ponyshit. Also, incomplete. Also, muffins. Quote:
9.72: this 4th has the same pitch as the 4th at 9.04, so it should be a right arrow. 48.81: not loud enough to justify a hand imo 75.72: missing note. 82.75: this is unnecessarily hard and is copied at 93.72. as well as the 24 jumps you already said u changed, change this if you haven't. 102.64 - 107.78: again, not loud enough to justify hands. this is also too bland; there is techno which you can step which would make it much better. 138.59: 32nd out of sync. should be earlier. -you have missing notes such as a vocal 16th at 86.78 -you shouldn't step jumps for sounds which are only quiet vocals, such as 86.61, which i would put as a single note, and the jumpjack at 86.87 should only have jumps on the notes where there is a drum noise (idk the names of the different sounds of drum because i suck) and 87.21 should be a hand. -pr needs fixing in lots of places. -i could say more, but i cba. i dont even have a song in game so i guess i have no right to judge other files |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
-SONG: Starcadian: Dance or Die
-STYLE: Pad -LENGTH: 3:55 (uncut original song) -DIFFICULTY: Medium//8 -- though I'm having trouble figuring out how to actually identify this with any reliability. Based on other songs I've played, it definitely falls in the medium, but 8 is probably a bit high, maybe 6-7? OTHER: Consider this a beta version - I do plan to make another pass to try and incorporate feedback, then probably do some easier difficulties (harder is probably outside my capabilities for now). Context for author: I've been playing pad only for maybe 6 months. Probably well below play level of most here, but I'm fine with that. This will be my first effort at creating a stepfile. Context for song: If you are unfamiliar, Starcadian is pretty awesome. Synth/electronica with some very old-school/retrofuturist overtones - like listening to an 80's future/scifi action film There are some really cool videos on youtube - Chinatown, HE^RT, Ultralove, etc. GREAT stuff One of the songs/videos is Dance or Die, and the video is basically an 80's looking dance-athon/competition with a twist - failure gets your head exploded by the evil overlord watching behind the scenes Anyway - the song seemed perfect for stepmania, so I used it as the basis for my first attempt at a stepfile. Bonus: Sent the artist an email and got his approval to distribute as well So the song is a bit longer than normal - I actually edited the song down to just under 2 minutes, but had trouble finding a good cut spot for the video, and I really wanted to get the vid working in this one too, so I decided to do the whole 3-1/2+ song instead. I do like playing a bit more lengthy song every once in a while anyway, myself. so - Now it's time for feedback!! What did I do well? What did I screw up? (besides the length, anyway - though I do welcome feedback there as well, just I already know it's longer than preferred ) Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/mo...nce_or_die.zip youtube link for song/vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQFszVb2IL8 Also, some other starcadian stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJlZ56CrMkI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-KlLriSLRs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyO-MyJ4R1g |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
Sorry, it's the vid background - can try recompressing for smaller file size...
Ok done - here's an update that brings it down to 48mb - lower quality background video of course, but it's intentionally made to look like a VCR recording for the video theme anyway, so no big loss http://www.mediafire.com/download/jv..._die_v0.91.zip Last edited by defiancecp; 08-5-2015 at 09:08 PM.. |

Sengoku Sangen from Taiko no Tastujin OST (keyboard chart) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN_y8Mi3DNU r8 pls. I had trouble figuring out what the shamisen instrument was doing during m40-48 so I just followed a different instrument. If anyone is willing to help on that, that would be awesome. If not that's fine too. Other than that please tell me if you like or or not and if there's anything that needs fixing. Thank you!

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
Hey! Iīm new at making files(and pretty bad at it i think) and Iīm not that good at playing SM either(D4) so these files are probably not very good and way too easy for most of you but Iīd really appreciate some feedback .
Try to test the expert/oni difficulty(if it has none, then the hard one) except for Daze(try the hard one here) Last edited by Nick012; 12-14-2015 at 03:49 PM.. |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread V2
I'm not dead but I've mostly been playing stepmania and not ffr, and I decided to throw together a stepchart because why the heck not.
-Song Name: Sharaku -Type: 4key -Length: 3:11 -Difficulty: 175 bpm 1/16 jumpstreams and trills, some 1/32 runs -I made all of the chart myself excluding the song. In summary, never let me play yolomania ever again. http://www.mediafire.com/download/4u...te/Sharaku.zip Last edited by Ghost_Medley; 05-7-2016 at 06:01 PM.. |
