Aw, Jon supped me. Now I have to use this new score.

Completely blitzed the clock section. Arrows ended up at ~17 seconds, so I could feasibly go sub-100 if I whored it some more.

EDIT: I never learned how to mash.

Jon: I prefer FF over IE because, in my experience, it just runs so much more smoothly, and I like the customizations that FF allows for. I always see FF releasing new security updates as well, whereas I can't say the same for IE. IE's too simple for my tastes. Furthermore, I'm also a huge supporter of open-source software. Try getting IE to run in something like Linux, too. It's kind of a hassle (there is stuff like IEs 4 Linux out there but it doesn't support IE7 iirc, would have to doublecheck) -- alternatively, you could run WINE first, but then again, why bother when you have a perfectly-running FF right out of the box?

I also like FF's ability to restore sessions and undo closed tabs -- if you want such features with IE, you have to install them separately. I also dislike IE's new interface... FF's is far more intuitive to me, and the options are more easily discernible. A big issue I've always had with Microsoft products is the fact that options and settings are essentially all over the place, stuffed into all sorts of random nooks and crannies when it's totally not necessary. FF gets this right and puts most of the relevant settings into a very intuitive, easily accessible and understandable interface. And while this is still debated by many, I find FF's adblocking to be superior to IE's (I get far more popups with IE vs. FF given equal or near-equal levels of security).

Also, when it comes to web design, web standards, and webpage security/support, FF dominates: http://www.webdevout.net/browser-support It *really* annoys me that IE isn't getting its butt in gear when it comes to this stuff. It sucks that so many people try to make their webpages work with IE which means *INTENTIONALLY GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN OF WEB STANDARDS*. As someone who used to design web pages, it pissed me off to no end when it came to making pages work in IE. Stuff would look good in FF but would simply break or not look as nice in IE because it simply lacked support for a certain feature/standard, and there's really no excuse for that.

So yeah more than just lower loads and pipelining imo

EDIT: I also love this paragraph in the above summary report: "Visitors with visual impairments may take advantage of a magnified version or a monochrome version of these documents. In most web browsers, you can select your preferred view by going to the View menu and then Page Style or Style. This mechanism is not supported by Internet Explorer or Safari."

Well I'm not using linux. End of that argument

In IE8, restoring sessions and undoing closed tabs are built in, and that is the version i'm using. Its a lot laggy than FF.
The options are all over the place? If you are talking about those "options" then IE is actually more concentrated. A major part of firefox is the usages of its about:config, which ie doesn't have, so ie's options are actually more user-friendly
I agree that FF is better at adblocking than IE. However, better isn't good enough, so no matter which browser i'm using i have google toolbar installed to block ads.... so that doesn't matter to me either.

IE has actually more support. If you are following the HTML 4.01 rules as well as normal web standards, IE runs it perfectly fine. I don't know HOW many times I had to write extra javascripts just to get small functions to work on firefox... Firefox doesn't support iframes that well, and doesn't support web slices. Thus, IE dominates in web design.

The new HTML 5 about to be released soon is again more targeted towards IE compatibility. So, the web design world is going towards IE.

I stand by my previous argument.

IE can zoom -- better than mozilla. In mozilla, embedded items cannot be zoomed properly. Try it with any flash app. However, in IE, you can zoom the flash up. Thats what I do for FFR.
there is a monochrome version.... its called --> internet options, accessability (in the first tab) --> turn off all colours....

EDIT: Oh, and the fact that in FF you have to go into options to enable the status bar is just annoying.... all status bar effects don't show up....

Anyhow, I can't do spin yellow.... I've never been able to do music marathon....
Spin green speeds up WAYYY too much during the end. Even holding the jump and not missing a jump makes me die...
Spin red is more about luck than about skill. I don't get disoriented, but when 4 astroids come, block up the entire screen moving horizontally, there's really nothing you can do...

Ah, was not aware of this. I haven't really touched IE8 but I've messed around with other versions plenty. My suspicion though is that IE8 only has this feature because people like it in FF so much :P

I guess this is obviously just a user preference. In FF, whenever I've wanted to change something, I went to where I would expect to intuitively find it and the feature was indeed there. In IE I'd sometimes have to fish around a bit before finding what I was looking for.

I actually find that FF standalone is sufficient in killing off most of the annoying stuff, but this just may be a function of the types of sites I tend to visit.

Well if IE is making the efforts to become more standard-compliant, then I'm all for it. As shown through the website I linked, they've been severely lacking and need to get in better shape.

Whenever I need to read something more easily in FF, I just ctrl+

xD thats the only thing I want to argue more about.

When you ctrl+ in FF... only the words grow bigger. But, similarly, in IE, when you ctrl+ in IE, the words AND embeds grow bigger. So, for stuff like MIND IMPULSE (you can go try it), in FF when you ctrl + nothing happens.

IN IE however, when you ctrl + the app gets bigger, and you can read the words better.

did you not know that ctrl+ existed in IE too?

btw rubix, that web page you showed me, all of the commonly used features IE has support over 90%... FF has like uber high support for really deprecated functions... the reason IE support has gone down is because it is encouraging people to use css, which is what they SHOULD be doing. So, if you look, all of the formatting codes IE has less support of, whereas the basic usage codes ie has more support.

Also javascript and vbscript seem to run better on ie for some reason.... I don't know why...

On a different note, I saw Jon's 99 on the high score board. I want to keep those extra two-and-a-half points!

As for the site, I did a quick data pump into Excel -- the only things IE beat FF in is "HTML 4.01 "script" function, and CSS 2.1 page-break-after and page-break-before" -- everything else FF either ties or exceeds (mostly exceeds, even in basic functions)

Anyways I think we can agree that there is indeed a large element of personal preference. I like the customizations, security, open-sourced nature, compatibility, speed, and intuitive layout of FF, so that's primarily why I use it over IE

Actually man, on average, FF has "15%" higher than IE does for the numerical comparisons. I'd say that's decently large.

guys. make a different thread. seriously.

also, i agree with Jon... my Spin Green run was pretty nice... Spin Yellow is basically music marathon, and the hardest part is recognizing whether it is down or L/R because you can't even see the gap until the last second... and Spin Red is a LOT of luck.

Ok I am sick of this game. How about we call a truce fractalmonkey...

I don't know how many times i've gotten like 96 97 98... and the number of times that i've gotten 200+ too (xD sometimes mashing isn't the best idea to get a fast time)

FINALLY i got this. You better not beat me again. I think the most you can go down to is like 87 if you're like VERY lucky at everything and the math answers are like all the same.

Grr even more ranting. Fancy pants. I had the best beginning ever... if only i didn't fall down into that hole during the moving platforms... got a screenshot, this was the stretch right before the rat in the 2nd level.

Also got a new 4 second score. I don't know how jump got 121 seconds... this run seemed perfect... maybe my strategy isn't right....
