![]() I guess I should post this..
I'm a year behind in my schooling simply because I was lazy. My at home life was/is really bad which doesn't help moral at all. I'm in a program right now (through my high school) called IMPACT. It's basically a computer learning lab. I spend four of my eight periods sitting in front of a PC re-taking courses that I failed last year and the year(s) before. It's pretty rough, and I once contemplated dropping out, but the people behind me and the people in my old class that already graduated talked me out of it. (My dad also threatened to kick me out, and I can't live with my mom so I would be basically be homeless). I also thought about what I wanted to do, which to be completely honest I don't even know, probably either IT work or some type of Web development. Then it hit me. All these classes that I hate, I don't take them because their supposed to help me, I take them because they will get me into college. Then I start learning real **** that will actually benefit me and help me obtain my goals. The point is no matter how much you hate it, the courses you take in high school ultimately affect your chances of getting into college. I ****ing hate math. I wish it didn't exist. But Hillsborough Community College wants me to know Algebra so I don't really have a choice. Once I get into college I can start taking all my Web Design courses. And when something bad happens, he loses his job, has no home, smells like crap + piss, walks pointlessly around.

since when has that stopped anyone from doing it? :P
Don't drop out. Take the easiest core-classes you can that will get you the credits that you need, and fill up on electives, preferably welding if they have it as a class at your school. At my school we have like welding 1-3.... you could extern at your dad's shop for school credit.... OR, since you spend so much time on the computer, take some of your gayer classes online... everyone I've ever talked to that's taken a class online as opposed to school says its like 100x as easy. Hell, it'd probably be easier to cheat. idk if you have welding as a class, or if you have online classes in Canada, but we have it here, so that's what I would do if I were you. But don't drop out. |

lol good job. Well I know you will make the best choice. Don't think about what you are doing, if you really wanted to drop out you would have done it already.

![]() Oh and your junior year is supposed to be your toughest year. Senior year rules dude.
Take electives. Take classes that spark a little bit of interest in you. I took psychology and it's freaking amazing.... so much so that I'm making A's on everything and the teacher wants to put me in AP, and I might just do it. but anywho, just hold out. You never know what can happen. Journalism was fun for me last year, but we didn't DO anything.... we got a new teacher this year, and now I want to major in it. I love writing, I love controversy, and I love getting to miss out on class to film for the morning show and interview the administrators. You apparently love welding, so stay in school for it. |

![]() You can't drop out of school until you are in the 12th grade here.
Regardless of that, it's a really bad idea IMO. The qualifications make it easier for you to get a job.

![]() You're being an idiot, I'm sorry.
You say that you can't stand the rules that you have to live by while at school - seriously? I can't think of any rules that would have such a large impact on me that I would constantly feel bothered by it. No matter where you are in life, you will be operating under regulation - learn to live with it. You really, really need a high school diploma if you want somewhere to hire you. Everyone has a high school diploma - if you don't, they won't even look at you. And living a life where you barely make enough money to press on is a lot more constricting than just two years of garbage rules at school. Graduate. Do it with decent grades. Two years is nothing.

![]() EnR, if you dislike the teachers and the classes so much, have you considered taking a bit of time to get an early look into some of the stuff you might want to do in the future? I know you've said welding, music, and astronomy, so how about visiting the library and getting a few books on the subjects in general and taking them to the classes to keep you at least a bit absorbed for the days? Your teacher's will probably complain, but if you can pick up and do the classwork and still feign some kind of interest in them, I'm willing to bet they'll let it slide.
(And I've never heard of a High School making Religion required, but then again, I'm in the US.) |
