Wait, I thought the requirement was to get both 3 billion points and 3 years.

![]() What are the "distinguishing" features of Vet Status? I never had a subby before (although I wish I did)

View other people's levelranks, beta level reader, beta version of the game (which is meh), view token level ranks, subscriber forum, ability to change custom title, credit transfer log, ability to flag inappropriate profiles, amongst other things...

Idk... my two cents. EDIT: With different requirements and stuff, I think there should be two statuses: Game and Forum Game Vet Features: Basically current subby Forum Vet Features: Maybe different color font, more smileys or emoticons, colored names, etc.? Idk... Last edited by iironiic; 11-21-2010 at 07:18 PM.. |

![]() people do not deserve prizes and rewards for being part of the community. i appreciate the gesture of the administration looking to give a few more privileges to people who are more involved in the community, but you guys are getting carried away. just leave it at what it is.

![]() All of you that think there should be an absolute time requirement must be trolling. Just look at Leonid, or VanillaMnm; don't they deserve Veteran status? I hate repeating myself but... this thread. =u=
Adding time to a holistic scale would still allow inactive accounts to get Vet. The difference is it would take them a lot more of the same inactivity. And if such people were to decide to play the game or navigate the forums, etc, they'd speed up the process. I'll just put Dev's idea on the front again. Maybe with a bit of tweaking. I think I'm fairly active in the forums, but I only have 138 posts. Suggesting 500 as more of a compromise than a final value. Though it really won't matter to me so long as I can play the game more for Vet. |

![]() If post counts were a factor, people would just whore threads like "the last letter game" -
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...=1529&page=689 I like the current system because it makes it achievable for any new member to achieve given some dedication to the site. It does degrade the value of the old subscriber status though. Maybe the benefits could be staggered over time or some variation of the point systems which have been brought up already. |

![]() stupid -- veteran means old. time based. if you want to add extra **** then don't label it veteran. label it something more apt.

![]() In my own experience, any kind of reward from forum posts only results in spam and pointless posts. It would only encourage people to post when they normally wouldn't, not bringing anything useful or relevant to the thread. Newcomers having their welcome thread filled with "Welcome!" messages from thousands of user looking to increase their posts count.
The point is, if you want to value a user in regards to the forum, rate him according to the value of the content of his posts rather than the quantity. But of course, you can't do that. Anyone can start posting everywhere without necessarily spamming... But it's annoying as hell to go through a bunch of completely useless posts. I've been playing actively since I joined and played before making an account. Don't get me wrong, I love communities and enjoy posting on forums... But I usually get kind of intimidated with huge communities and end up not posting. But that doesn't mean I'm not just as devoted. I played actively, participated in tournaments, referred a couple friends and already paid for subscribtions... But no, I never really got around posting on the forum all that much... I have 3 times as many posts on Dragon Fury's forum than here and registered on Dragon's Fury 4 years later. I think what makes me a Vet here is how much I've played it and for how long I've been playing. Putting it in a different context... Does a war veteran necessarily have killed a lot of people? And aren't most subscriber features useful for people who actually play the game? How many of the features are related to the forum really? Seriously, I think it's fine how it is right now. But adding requirements that aren't related to the game is ridiculous in my opinion. Requirements that you can earn yourself like overall, average rank, credits etc... Are fine. But forum posts, stepfile submitted and the such shouldn't have to do with this. There are people who enjoy playing the game without necessarily wanting to socialize at the same time. And while the opposite is also true, I find myself wondering what feature of the Veteran status would attract people who don't play the game? tl;dr, taking forum posts in consideration is retarded. |

![]() war veterans are veterans as long as they've served. doesn't matter if they saw battle.
whoever suggested post counts needs to be shot bc that is the worst idea ever

![]() My suggestion involving postcount wasn't in any way remotely connected to requiring a -minimum- post count, just allowing for people who are forum contributors to also get veteran status without having to go whore the game. Whoring the game for GTS is just as irritating a concept as posting a whole bunch.
Consider that as the current requirements stand, I don't qualify as a veteran. That suggests to me that the system is missing an element. |
