Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
Looking at star hill again, I still personally think it's fine. But when two out of the three judges tell you "change this", especially when one of those two has a lot more experience judging, then maybe it might be a good idea to look into it.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
I wasn't actually commenting on whether it needed work or not or saying that it didn't need work; in fact I haven't opened the file yet since I got the notes. The point was the contradiction (*which I found to be frustrating), not a judgment on either side particularly.

I read his post and thought "heh, subjectivemanias", not "omg what is wrong with these judges". And I would've thought that regardless of how many judges claimed which more than the other. Don't act so defensive, he wasn't attacking.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
Sorry about not posting a Weekly Batch Update tonight. I just got home a few minutes ago and I'll be making one Monday night.
Looking at the previous page of this thread should provide a good idea for what will be happening in next week for now. I'm going to be separating the Batch-related tasks from the Web Development Team tasks in these updates now. |

Have the judges started with the November-December 2014 batch?

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
As of 10/16/2015 10:58 PM EST the Batch Search Engine has been updated with the following:
In other news: One Winged Angel has notes for 4 out of 5 files in Part 1 for the High FGO Special Batch Phase 1. I'm planning on looking over them this weekend, and preparing the next 5 files so he can start on Part 2 (there are 6 parts, 29 files). Silvuh is helping bmah with determining genres for the November 2014 Batch, which is needed to help determine the ordering of the files for that batch. Since I'm not going out this Sunday I should be available that day as well. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
This week didn't work out well for most of the staff, and I figured I would post an update today to give an idea of where we are at:
- One Winged Angel has finished his reviews for the first set of 5 files in Phase 1 of the High FGO Special Batch. I'll be looking over his reviews tonight. He's also started on the second set of 5 files. - psychoangel691 is recovering from illness, and she planned to arrange the Official Tournament Batch posts/announcements by the end of this weekend. - Silvuh sent September 2014 and November 2014 songs for bmah to establish song genres. The November 2014 Batch is currently still blocked until this is completed. I don't want November 2014 to drag on unnecessarily from that blocker, so I'll get an update as soon as possible to give an estimate on when the November 2014 ordering can be established. Update: Quote:

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
Silvuh finished the ordering for the November 2014 files and he even took an extra step to list the lengths to balance the files judges will have in their sets. November 2014 consists of 50 files, with 10 sets of 5 files each. The ordering is listed in the spoiler below. The table height was too high so it had to be split into two pictures; the column positioning should be close enough.
Since judging for the November 2014 Batch can start now, the next step is to find judges for the first three sets. Silvuh and I will be contacting potential lead judges who want to take sets of five. On another note, Sprint 6 Planning will be finished tonight as Sprint 5 will be ending tomorrow.

the times on the spreadsheet aren't the same as the ones on my files (if these are the times from DDReamstudio)

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
Hmmm... so, I just noticed that This Will Be The Day is up there; I sent in that file as my prize for the Step Con event, meaning that it should be accepted automatically in the queue. Or, should I just assume that prize is null and void? I mean, I guess it doesn't matter to me either way because I don't have anywhere near the cap in terms of files submitted anyway.

We did it, Gradiant! Now we wait and see if it gets declined! Dohoho, I hope not though. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
I used an mp3 tag editor to quickly extract the length in seconds of every track (later noticing that Google Sheets does have a Duration option, so 2:09 won't be 2:09 PM, thanks Excel), so the times are mp3 lengths, not stepfile duration lengths. Sometimes it happens that someone leaves off, like, a whole minute at the end of a track unstepped, but it's in the submission rules that unstepped endings are supposed to be cut to not unnecessarily increase the file size. But three seconds isn't a problem.
As for the Step Con thing, it was already agreed that the prize had expired. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
Fair enough. As I said before, in retrospect - it's a non-issue because I'm pretty confident about the structure of the file, and I think it'll get in regardless. It's my only thing submitted so... no issue with cap either. I figured I'd at least try.
