I know what you mean, I don't date for looks either (although looks are a nice bonus). I just wish I wasn't so shy around women, tis my curse I suppose.

To answer your question, it started with -Tibs-'s avatar. He had a girl biting a cat. Then everyone wanted to copy -Tibs- because he's awesome like that. As a result, we have what we have today.
