Head over to the FFR Batch Forum for all the details on how you can get your file into the game. The Artist Permissions forum section will help you find out if FFR has permission to use the song your file goes with.

Stepmania University: We'll make your files suck less (under construction)
Re: Stepmania University: We'll make your files suck less (under construction)
Ok, in for student I guess. Although I already know how to make files, my layering style is pretty weird. Also, when there's just a generic kick, bass, hihat and clap before the melody comes in, aka the intro to most techno songs, I have NO idea which to step. When that happens I usually just put 4th jumps and 8ths in between. It becomes really boring. =/
Re: Stepmania University: We'll make your files suck less (under construction)
Im down to be a student. I know a decent amount of step theory and I know how to step, but my perception on how songs should be stepped seems to be rejected. Thats my only obsticle right now which is to figure out why my way of stepping is bad when I think they are decent enough. Although my style isn't to step music that everyone steps in SM/FFR or the same kind of genra.
I could also use some help on PR considering all I go by is high: right and low: left.
Mismiester is not the best BPM tool. It puts a fast music and calculates it into a low bpm. It does that to a lot of my DNB songs that start fast but ends up being like 80BPM when it should be around 170BPM.
Also one thing you guys would like to consider is another division that explains how to step different genras of music. Like for example, J-pop, techno, Gabba/Nu-style, Breakcore ETC.... if I try to explain anymore, or give examples, someone might come to this forum and say you are wrong and drama would explode on this thread. So Ill just leave it at that.

Can I apply for grad school here? I have done some courses at a community college and I already have my degree, but I would like to hone my craft.
My time would be spent on a medium to large project under the supervision of one of your professors. This could also be done with other grad students if there are others looking to complete the same project or are interested in working together to create a larger project.
I would also be available to help with some of the undergrads if they are having trouble with what it is that they are learning.
Attached is some of my work to date, which can be found in places such as the VGMP, VGMP2, and even the fourth iteration of the midare series. If needed, I can ask for letters of recommendation from previous professors and have them contact you about my skill sets and work experience.

P.S. as a litmus test, I'd like all aspiring tutors/professors to submit to me what they consider to be their most 'artful' work. (or just tell me what it is if it's in a pack) By artful I mean required the most amount of creative energy and thought behind specific pattern placement to make it work; for example I wouldn't submit something like glove's Not Again because that chart 'rides along' with the song's solos and just has to add pr really.
ron pauls op is probably my most 'artful' stepfile other than that all my files are pretty straight forward.

Make me a student, PLEASE. I've been trying to break this streak of me not coming up with anything step-wise, and it's because I can't find the right balance of layering/PR. =l

P.S. A good BPM analyzer is AutoBPM--it uses the sound that plays through your sound card to analyze the BPM. If it's a constant BPM, you should be able to get a near exact BPM. However, since it only measures to the .1 BPM, it's recommended that you play the song and check the sync--make adujstments when needed.

Pat this is a great idea... But if the information isn't offered to everyone what help is it?
I think with you should just write a thread for "File Theory" and break down the file theories by Genre (not sub genres, there are simply to many.)
Cause I'd like to see some ideas for how to do a step file for a Mild Rock song like "Welcome to The Black Parade" compared to Thrash Metal like Metallica. Or when to use a jack compared to a trill. Things like that.
