Eh, I just looked up the St.Louis lineup & you're right, they don't have too much outside of Holliday and Pujols. But they definitely had one of the best pitching staffs in the NL. |

Had the NLDS gone to five games, they were going to have Carpenter pitch game 4 and Wainwright pitch game 5. If that doesn't tell you anything about how they feel about the rest of their pitching staff, then I don't know what to say. |

![]() Actually, St.Louis has the best pitching coach in the Major League. I don't remember his name, but many players and commentators recognize him as the top pitching coach.

juan pierre (lol)
it's a lineup full of good hitters though, in terms of average. most of them are above league average. Quote:
cardinals bullpen was pretty good until ryan franklin decided to not be good down the stretch and ruin my fantasy team also dodgers and cardinals pitching staffs are pretty equal; dodgers lead in ERA (3.41 to 3.66), strikeouts (1272 to 1049) while the cardinals lead in bb and bb/9 (460 to 584 which is a huge difference and their total innings pitched is about the same) and saves ratio (43/57 in saves to 44/70) for a couple of examples lol dodgers and cardinals WHIP are similar, but dodgers walk more people while the cardinals give up more base hits (dunno who gives up more xbh, fangraphs is only showing basic team stats). more walks = shorter outings, higher bullpen usage but their era is also a bit lower so meh if i had carpenter and wainwright in the front of the rotation i'd start them game 4 and game 5 regardless of who i had behind pineiro (assuming health not a factor) |

![]() Angels swept Boston...that's about as much of an upset as the Dodgers sweep was. I'm pretty sure the Sox were pretty heavy favorites.
Angels scored 5 runs in the last two innings to win. God damn. Last edited by foilman8805; 10-11-2009 at 03:25 PM.. |

I'm pretty sure they weren't even favorites, if they were then it was a joke. Angels had a better record in the season and they had home field advantage. The only possibility I could think of is Boston might have been a favorite because the Angels NEVER win in Boston.

![]() Yeah I didn't see any Boston favoritism. Pretty sure Yanks will take it tonight. Although the Yanks have struggled against the Angels they have proven to overcome that this year. Looking forward to a brutal Yankees winning-streak.

![]() The analysts picked them to win the series so more ****tards from boston would watch their awful coverage of the games. Seriously, how did TBS get away with this?

![]() I don't know, but the guys doing the broadcasting for TBS ****ing so much **** I can't stand it. They routinely **** up names and plays and it annoys the **** out of me.
The FOX commentators are slightly better, but not by much. Eric Karros is good if he's on. |

![]() TBS gets the ALDS and NLDS, which is crap if you don't have cable, then Fox gets the LCS and WS.
Boston was picked because their depth in starting pitching, who pitched like **** in these games.
