![]() @bdn: its more than good enough for xoon 4 imo. we're working on judging consensus notes so people will be able to see some blurb about why their file was accepted/rejected

![]() it means don't send a file if you know it isn't your best. if you made something and you think its prolly a good file, go ahead and send.
keep duckys guide in mind too for stepping files, i know i'm making it sound complicated but i'm trying to be helpful. |

![]() Re: MEIKAI (Scylaax)
Post by Patashu on Mon Jul 06, 2009 12:46 am generic but okay feeling. lots of places had lots of prominent instruments passed over or not given due emphasis however which made it feel empty. also there was this random 16th run that got replaced with a colour jizz? ?_? and the common occurance of 16th notes immediately after a freeze is annoying to hit, easily fixed by shortening the suspect freezes by a 16th or 32nd measure by measure breakdown: m5 and m7: the 16th triplets should be different here for pitch relevant reasons. my best suggestion is for the last note of the second triplet to be R m10: green notes are blatantly wrong lol m11 on: snare needs to be included somehow. if you don't want to add jumps or three note jacks my suggestion is to change the first two or last two notes the snare plays on into a minijack each time m18 beat 2.5: change from layering the choir oohs to the snare to exemplify the new pattern end of m23: change in someway to exemplify added snare. minitrill or jack m23/m24: step either the snare or bassline m25/m26: plz step the cool drumrolls. also m26 beat 4 needs another note m29: is wrong. it should look like the two measures before it except in terms of pr m30: excuse me but you missed an awesome snare note. m31 on: aside from the freeze into 16th issues I mentioned this is fine m38: at the end you need a minijack and extra note for the snares and crash, then leave the note just after that out. m42: snarrreeee m43: beat 4 jump should be one note only m44: following the layering scheme, beat 4 should be a triple press m45: last seven notes should be a right handed minitrill (snareee) m46: should start with a jump and step that cool melody thing m54: see m38 m56: should follow same layering scheme as m44 throughout m57: this measure goes x.x.x.xxx.x.xxxxx for its percussion. listen, step that m59/m60 feel empty m60: has the random colour jizz I talked about m65: has the wrong layering. yellow jump is in the wrong place and the red jump on beat 4 needs to go m66: beat 3 should be a single note following earlier layering scheme m67: is wrong again m68: ow. the mines aren't very helpful. there's a jack here I get it m76: the snare jack should be on the last yellow-blue-yellow not blue-yellow into red the next measure m79: layer more blah blah tired of looking at this file now m81 on: please please step this part. it's got new rhythms that haven't come up in da song before whew done

![]() re: Quake (moches)
after a second play it grew on me the 24th part was a bit boring but idk. can you acknowledge the piano somehow in it? (I'd like to see lots of minifreezes for emphasis of powerful lone hits I think) measure by measure breakdown: end of m3: should be 24ths for four notes not a gallop. maybe make the hand minifreezes? end of m6: the 24th gallop is right in this one, buut beat 4 should be a jump end of m9: add in a 16th note. and maybe one just after m10 begins m12: layer the organ. beat 4 should be a jump m13: starts with a 24th triplet not 16ths m13 on: there are parts where you don't break the guitar when it stops playing (typically whenever it has a 'waah' ending on a yellow note). also imho those 'waahs' should count as two notes. also the 48th gallop things w/ cyan notes are actually four 32nds that go like this: orange red orange yellow; mid up mid down. this applies to all of them. any other 48ths are 32nds m14: yellow freeze needs to end earlier, step minijack of guitar m15: start should go x.xxx.x on 32nds m16: 32nds at the end are five notes long not three m18: pretty sure the five note 32nd thing is just the last three 32nds, first one is erroneous m19: starts with 24ths m22: set of 32nds leading into beat 4 were missed m25 on: layer in the melody when it plays during one of the jacks? m35 on: it's strange that a strong open hi hat here is always on its own even though it's coupled with the guitar (or later piano) frequently. should be jumps m36: the first yellow jump is wrong m37 on: snare that's uncoupled from the piano should be a single note here, imho. m39/m40 has erroneous jumps. can u spot them all?? m40: pretty sure those are 32nds not a 48th thing? also jumps on those two yellow notes where that drum plays? m41-m44 could possibly use tidying up, idk. is it consistent in any case? that's the important part. because thinking about it you probably could use jumps to emphasize intersections between guitar and piano or parts of the piano as long as it's consistent and meaningful to do so and yeah
