Re: TWG CLXXXV: C9+++++++++ Game Thread
so my free relaxing weekend turned into a work weekend. thought I'd be able to phonepost a little at work but that didn't turn out too well. being on a strict salary also means I don't get paid extra for weekend work or overtime, so it's super lovely.
anyway, I'ma take this chance to spend some time on game. not sure if anyone will be up at this hour but please ping me if you are. skimming thread showed me that people unsurprisingly want a little more from me. I know I haven't been up to par this game with the absences and all, but I'm hoping the plus side to that is that I may have drawn an opportunistic wolf or two to pin their hopes on lynching me this phase. Looking forward to checking that. ok, nuff said lol let's do this shit

Re: TWG CLXXXV: C9+++++++++ Game Thread
I'm around. I don't work this sunday as well.
My main issue with you has been to understand how you make your own reads during this game.

only "@raeko"ed you because a few people had posted between your response and my followup question, making it unclear who I was addressing
also wanted your response in the moment, so it kinda became more and more pointless the more time went on

Re: TWG CLXXXV: C9+++++++++ Game Thread
Ok you've mentioned this twice now so I think it's better I clarify now than after game in voice or whatever
the "pat on the back" comment was really really not intended dickishly Gradiant said I needed to get off my high horse and that I was acting better than ppl and gave the "good scumhunting" comment as an example. --> I thought he thought I meant "good scumhunting" as a condescending complement like a pat on the back kinda thing, which *WOULD* be condescending and acting better than ppl, so I TRIED to clarify that I wasn't trying to pat him on the back --> My attempt at saying I wasn't being condescending in saying "good scumhunting" ended up sounding condescending "don't go thinking I was trying to pat your back" and just made things worse ---------- figured I wouldn't be getting through to anyone if I tried to clarify that at the time, so I was just gonna say it after game like HEY DUDE I WASN'T BEING CONDESCENDING BUT IT'S HARD AS HELL TO CONVEY TONE IN TEXT

In this post, between the "but that's ok" and the "I find it weird", which one were you leaning towards more? When you said "weird", did you mean from an alignment indicative standpoint or did you think he was town and just being too focused on the last game?

In general, I read different people differently. I also think I learned a lot during the trailer park game both in private conversations and voice chats. A lot meaning both about people's personalities and their playstyles. Some stuff seems obvious in retrospect but I think it took a year of not playing with you all for it to sink in once we did play again. Before the trailer park game, I would've answered a "how do you make your reads?" question with "I try and analyze intention in posts and compare the possibilities of each alignment making that post" NOW, after that game and subsequent lTWGs, I think it's more "for each personality, I try and picture that person sitting there and typing that post as each alignment and try to feel which voice sounds/flows more genuine(ly)." Sounds like there isn't much difference, but I think the nuance is HUGE

Reason there goes back to people playing differently. Take FFA and myself, for instance. Wholly different playstyles. Wholly different posting styles. Wholly different reading styles. But when it's all said and done, it's our knowledge of how each other operates that's enabling me to read him through all the nonsense and flippant posts. Whereas, before the hours of conversations we'd had, I was asking for help reading him because he was so unlike anyone else that I had to keep drawing a blank when trying to figure out where his posts were coming form

Re: TWG CLXXXV: C9+++++++++ Game Thread
In rereading last phase, one thing I definitely want is Antori to walk me through his scumread on me yesterday @Antori
Quote:
It's weird. I'd agree that Daikyi pushing people is doing the right thing. I don't see what star not scumreading Antori has anything to do with it, though. I also don't see how I negated "the whole discussion", especially if that discussion goes back to "daikyi pushing people and not voting them." So then from there we immediately go to a suspicions list where I'm at the top of the suspicions. coool. This is again weird because, despite being at the top here with little reasoning beyond I rubbed him the wrong way, he follows this up with: Quote:
Quote:
@Antori, can you walk me through your throught process in making these posts and a little bit of the progression you felt throughout D0?

Re: TWG CLXXXV: C9+++++++++ Game Thread
We've talked about this a few times before, and I think raeko can attest to a voice conversation with sunfan where I was doing pretty much the same thing in trailer park boys (in one of our conversations after I had already claimed wolf). The negativity and anti-Haku comments you get are one of my pet peeves of the FFRTWG community, especially because I don't think they're justified. I probably would've made the same post as a wolf because it genuinely irritates me when it's rehashed, so don't read into it as a town thing. I just wanted to stop it before it got worse.
There isn't more to it. I wasn't surprised when Daikyi started it but I wasn't going to comment when it was just him because I noticed he wasn't going too far and did seem to consciously be trying to be openminded. I only intervened when Gradiant joined in. After posting, I realized my post made Daikyi seem worse than he was, so I wanted to note that he hadn't been that bad and that I just wanted to stop it before it got worse. I asked Raeko that because her response was super generic and I wanted her to give specifics. Here, look: Quote:
That struck me as generic to the point that she could say it about anyone at any time and it'd have the same effect. That's why I asked her what specifically about Daikyi she liked. Not because it was Daikyi, but because it seemed like she was making up that read. Like, in that same post, she also said "Also I think that you are very mean for voting for me" which felt OFF. The wording is so clunky. I'd totally see Raeko start her post off after I voted her with something like "MEAN" or "You're mean for voting me", but it just felt like contrived casualness and really made me want more from her I was on my phone when I posted my interrupted reads, scrolled down and found the votecount, refreshed and saw her vote. Wasn't sure if there was a random CFD onto me or not so I voted WV to try and offset her vote
