I heard a story about a contest Arch, Reach and Spazzbite had once. They all wanted to make the hardest file on FFR. The results of that competition are Revo, Molto and OMW.
Also, I remember Hyro posting randomly once after he'd been inactive for years. ps this really makes me wish I could go back in time with my current skills. hehehe |

Personally, I think BMR's V, A, or Gravity. V and A were both considered a massive step up in difficulty back in the day that really catalyzed skill improvements. Gravity was what I would call the "bridge" between easier, oldschool difficulty and newschool difficulty.
Believe it or not, when these files were released, people were lucky if they earned C scores. Last edited by Reincarnate; 11-30-2010 at 11:38 AM.. |

I guess that depends on what kind of influence you are talking about. Playing stepfiles and making stepfiles are quite different.

Gravity, no joke - it introduced all of the players into the world of more difficult charts. Such good times.

oh my god I found a video that I've long since thought had disappeared from the internet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPVuTDV0egU the result of an argument between this dude and Archowl lmfao (this video was made in retaliation, and the quote at the end of the video itself was actually something Archowl directly said to trbj earlier as part of his BS call because trbj had been sucking at really easy stuff but pulling off decent scores on A) This was back when people were just starting to be able to handle difficulties like A Last edited by Reincarnate; 11-30-2010 at 11:42 AM.. |

I've never even played gravity.. Tarren's G2 or w.e the hell it's called is what introduced me to hard files, this file wasn't popular at all to my knowledge though :/
I'd say Quasar, ageha, oml. At least for most overplayed probably. Which is how I view them as influential, obv they did something the community liked if they were played so much. I forgot all about that A file tbh damb Last edited by [TeRa]; 11-30-2010 at 11:47 AM.. |

Quasar is fun for doing stream at different rates. I've gotten 4 perfects on 1.5 and 27 on 1.7 on index. Doubt I could do the 1.7 anymore but quasar on 1.5 seems almost comfortable speed now.
Halo reach!! ![]() I just realized that I haven't downloaded new stepmania songs since 2007. Edit: Also toph. Last edited by Izzy; 11-30-2010 at 12:20 PM.. |

the fact that playing on keyboard evolved organically without any planning out of playing on pad and ddr emulators explains a lot about how weird and bastardized it seems (index vs one handed vs spread, no easy keyboard charts despite it being a separate way of playing, etc)

Does anyone have ChaQ's FotBB for download? I'd like to give it a try.

I hate to say this, but I highly doubt it. The only one I have is Arch's. Last edited by AsphyxZero; 11-30-2010 at 10:14 PM.. |

I could always restep it from a youtube video if I have to, but it'd be nice to have the original, with the real bg.
