As Devonin said in CT, although the percentage brackets for each grade are different ranges, the quality of A-work is the same in both Canada and the US. So just because the % ranges are different doesn't mean one schooling is easier than the other. Unless it came to math where your grade is based on how many questions you answer correctly.

But maybe I'm just reading what you typed incorrectly, and we're actually on the same page.

I got a 91.4 on my microeconomics midterm. I'm so ****ing disappointed omfg.
I bombed English. The grammar part was easy and the vocab was OK, but the reading stuff and the essay were tricky. I'll be content with a B. Even a C+ wouldn't be too horrible. Music theory and Spanish tomorrow. I'm hoping for an A+ and B+ respectively.

Inability to spell when you're posting about how smart you are makes you look like an idiot. I'm pretty sure this is the point Hooch was trying to make.

Well put, tsugomaru. "WOW Canada is so BS'ingly easy, just get 80% and get an A." Quite obviously this wouldn't be fair if the standards were the same as the 10 point grading scale or 7 point grading scale. Many people could slack off and cheat to get easy As if this were the case. The standards must be higher in those classes. In my AP Chem class, for instance, 80% is an A-, (and only two people had above 90%) whereas in all of my other classes, 89.5% or 90.0% is an A-.

Ah, yes, I see what you were saying, Tsugamaru. We were saying the same thing, just in different ways XD.

I always thought our grading scale was weird.
A = 93 – 100 B = 85 – 92 C = 77 – 84 D = 70 – 76 F = 69 and below |

ACED my mid-terms but my actual school grades are sh*t. Happy either way.
94% Math 95% Wellness 87% Global (YESSSSS THIS TEST WAS SO F*CKING HARD SO MANY PEOPLE FAILED AND I'M NOT SMART) *88% Chem (Crazy for me) 83% English (Not bad) All other classes didn't require a test as a midterm. In my tech class we had a project/presentation etc. |

Looking at any of your grading scales look slightly odd compared to my stupidly strict one.
A+98-100 A 93-97 A-90-92 B+88-89 B 83-87 B-80-82 C+78-79 C 73-77 C-70-72 D+68-69 D63-67 D-60-62 F<59 F0<30 Btw totally only have one grade so far, but I got an 88 in chem

Bender, my grading scale is exactly like yours except that + grades start at a numeral with 7, - grades up to one with 3.
Like 87% would be a B+, 86% would be a B. 93% would be an A-, 94% would be an A.

'A' quality work can vary so dramatically from school to school, from province to province etc. I can prove this is true from the results of introducing mandatory standardized testing in grade 12 math, chemistry, physics and english in NS here several years ago. It essentially unearthed a massive problem: The quality of work to achieve an A was all over the place. I wrote essentially the first dry run of the provincial math exam and the results were unbelievable. Personally, my overall mark from the class itself was 88%, and my exam score was 95%, so I got an A. *However*, the provincial average turned out to be about 38% or somewhere around there, with an overall 80% rate of failure, and I know dozens and dozens of people in other schools that had 90+ marks (an A) in their class but got a 30 something on the standardized exam (F, obviously). There was a big uproar about this, with tons of whiny kids going on about how the exam ruined their grades (that they clearly didn't deserve...at least in comparison to how I was being graded). So, I think this clearly demonstrates there is massive discrepancy between what an A is just about everywhere...whether it's just between schools or between countries/states etc. So yea, this is why scores on standardized tests are so much more important than your high school GPA. Although I can point out numerous problems with most commonly used standard tests like the SAT, without them grades are completely bogus.
