It's actually only 12 volumes, and the 13th is just a How-to-read package that has goodies like miniature versions of the characters, like what Near has, and they reveal things like L's name.
I'm disappointed in the way the series ended, but that doesn't stop me from loving the manga up to volume 7 and the anime up to episode 25. Also, here's an FMA one. Warning, Spoiler again. Hope you've seen the whole series before watching this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU2kvCmfH0M
