OK, many things:
1) It's pi, not pie (must be hungry?) 2) 22/7 isn't pi, its 3.142857142857... 3) Pi is irrational, and therefore has NO fraction equivalent, and 4) I am in Calculus, and therefore know how to compute pi to any decimal place using this formula: Pi is equal to the square root [6 times (1 + 1/4 + 1/9 + 1/16 + ... + (1/n)^2 )] You do have to add about 4 billion terms to get 9 decimal accuracy, but it really does converge to pi. Sorry. As a proud math geek, I must uphold order! |

Circumference divided by diameter equals pi.

True, but circumference and diameter can't BOTH be whole numbers, and therefore cannot create a rational fraction equivalent.

I know that. Well then, here are some more things for pi:

There are infinitely many ways to calculate pi, so this is getting pretty messed about now, since I was just thinking that 2pi/2=pi, which is a lot like what Deeks said.

How about pi=ln(-1)/-i? That doesn't have a pi in it, so it's better.
Edit: Can't remember if that last negative should be there, so it might be the opposite of that.

... I have no clue where I was going with that... EDIT: Oh wait... is the i in the ln too? Because there is no ln of -1. |

Oooooo... so close, the i IS positive.
Here is my labored proof of this, which I will mention is the ONLY actual showing of PROOF their function is correct ![]() Euler's Equation ![]() Calculus Proof of Euler's Equation ![]() Series Proof of Euler's Equation In any case, using pi for x in the equation gives us a value of -1. Therefore, the equation given by Doug31 can be created (except i is positive!). To answer Fox Tails' question, ln of a negative can potentially exist so long as it can be cancelled by some arithmetic reason, such as in Euler's Formula. Can I win for most caring to prove himself right? My thanks to Microsoft Equation Editor 3.0 Last edited by EI_Tizzy; 11-22-2006 at 05:24 PM.. |

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |
