So what if i started speaking in binary code and people started changing my 1s and 0s to 5s and 8s and all kinds of different numbers.
The language would make no sense.
They are merely agreed upon values, just like words are agreed upon meanings.
I'll use the mailman example:
For me personally, i'm not gonna call you a postal worker just because you are going to be offended by my speech. Mailman is 2 whole syllables, whilst postal worker is 4.
I'm not trying to label you PERSONALLY, i'm trying to use language to communicate with you. I could care less what you label yourself or what you do, but don't assume that me not changing language that has been ingrained in me one way or another is an attempt on your nonbinary life.
And even if i was trying to label anyone, why would they care? What power do I have that can control how you are labeled and what you think of yourself?

Here are my 3 quick summaries on why people get upset:
1. They are envious - They see a quality someone else has that they themselves want more of, and lash out due to the want
2. They are embarrassed - They see a detriment in someone else that they too believe to be in themselves, and lash out due to not wanting
3. They dont understand - They see something that they can't wrap their head around, and get angry at the unknown.
