        Have you watched Death Note? It's currently on Netflix, English subbed. It gets a little boring after episode 25 or so but it's still really good.

                        I haven't seen too much anime, but 5cm per second (already mentioned) is really nice if you can tolerate a lot of sentimentality. It's not for everyone but if you're a forgiving viewer it's actually really nice.

                        Haibane Renmei is a really amazing, 13-episode series. It starts off somewhat slow, but it's a tremendously rewarding experience

                                    the only anime in rapta's list that's even remotely okay is the world god only knows and that's still being pretty generous

                                    to be fair the garden of words kept my stiffy rock hard throughout the movie from the scenery porn. I didn't care about the actual story itself because it was incredibly boring and cheese as fuck but at least it was pretty to look at. kinda like a really attractive person you'd only sleep with but the instant they open their mouth to speak, you just completely tune them out and keep staring like you know what they're saying but it's okay because they're hot

                                                    On a serious note, Katanagatari and Spice & Wolf both come to mind as shows that are relatively easy to get into.
