Re: 20th Century Music Pack (Submission Open!)
Well, Roar added a ton of information to every one of the cd titles in his pack, which we obviously don't need this time. The only additional detail we need other than the stepper's cd-title is the song's year of release.
Here's a few examples of what Roar had in the past: This one had a ton of detail: - Roar's cd title, shrunken and shown on both sides - partitioning 4k chart(s) to the left and 6k (solo) chart(s) to the right - difficulties of each chart - genre on top - Wineandbread's cd title, shrunken - difficulty of chart - genre on top Obviously we don't need all of this. On SM, this amount of detail results in a pretty unwieldy cd title. But how about something like slightly shrinking the stepper's cd title and then placing the year on top (or bottom, or someplace else)? That's all we need. |

If someone steps Moby Dick, I would love them forever.

Re: 20th Century Music Pack (Submission Open!)
I actually like the idea of having the genre as well, maybe not as big either. The genres and years are less important than the author's cd title so they can could be a bit shrunken. I'll fiddle a bit with my cdtitle and see if I find anything I like.

Re: 20th Century Music Pack (Submission Open!)
I can actually see GD stepping NSync really well.
Question time though, how much of the century is gonna be covered? It seems like there's a lot of talk for 90's songs with a few rock tunes, but not much outside of that. Anyone gonna try touching the 50's or earlier? |

Re: 20th Century Music Pack (Submission Open!)
Year release should be in subtitle. One because of smo you can't see CD titles and banners and two, resteps might not have the year added, making it easier to have the right file on smo.

Re: 20th Century Music Pack (Submission Open!)
I was actually thinking of touching up on that haha. I was thinking of stepping some older stuff, Cab Calloway (if I could sync), or maybe some Sinatra.
Here's a deal, if anyone step the oldest song, you'll get a cookie. Legit. e: @Blind, I hadn't really taken SMO into consideration. Will take using the subtitle in consideration. I'll iron out the details by tomorrow, like I've mentioned before, I wouldn't like too much clutter amongst the files. and it's 4am

Yeah, that song wouldn't make a good file no matter who tried to step it.

Re: 20th Century Music Pack (Submission Open!)
I will not add the year of release to any of my submissions' subtitle if only because they would have large subtitles as it is and subtitles tend to look really smooshed together as it is. :/

Re: 20th Century Music Pack (Submission Open!)
i looks smooshed if you are using a theme that doesn't handle subtitles well or if you make it overly long (just include a year or something if album name and year are too long). other than that it's fine from what i have seen.

Re: 20th Century Music Pack (Submission Open!)
Hmm, I see a lot of dispute about where the year should go haha. What if I put the year and album name in the subtitle, and the decade year in the cd title?
e: Also I wouldn't say I'm OCD about tagging, moreso organization in general ._.

Re: 20th Century Music Pack (Submission Open!)
You'd better not touch my cdtitle. (if my file even gets accepted when I send it lol)
Year in Title or Subtitle is fine with me. If you put year in title and structure songs like [1951] Song name [1972] Song name [1999] Song name You'd get kind of a cool progression throughout the century effect, which I think is ballin'. Some peoople might not like the fact that the songs are alphabetical this way though. |

Actually Wafles that's a really good idea. Rebound did a similar idea with his dump collection, does anyone have anything against this idea? I really like the progression through the century idea.

- long subtitles with the year after the name will make it hard to find or see the year, making it really insignificant Quote:

- however, the font of the text is still an issue for me, it's too tiny, particularly if the song name is long, and particularly if we're referring to subtitles here instead of titles - and yes, as you mentioned, people might like the pack to be alphabetical; furthermore, this would affect your alphabetical search for one of these songs in the entire SM songlist (and I sometimes search for a song this way) I personally still want to go for the cd title since it not only looks cool, it actually will stand out and make the years more significant than the other ideas give credit to (simply by to design of font size). And since on the whole scheme of things this isn't a huge factor in the pack, it's no big deal if the cd titles are invisible on SMO. |
