everyone is exaggerating how much the students will hate these because it's the internet and if you're 'advanced' at internet culture you know how cringey memes can be

realistically, you'll put them up and 90% of the class won't get it. the 10% that will is a tossup between appreciating it and hating it, depending on how much internet they use

I recommend implementing a few into lessons, seeing the reaction of the students, and then decide whether or not they'd be good to be put up around the classroom from their reactions.

Here it usually immediately resulted in having your phone removed from you for the rest of the day. Needless to say, it didn't happen often.

i got my phone taken away from me in study hall so when the bell rang i simply waited until the teacher left, went into his drawers, and took it back

I got my 3DS taken in the library once (when I was retrieving my SD Card). The bitch ass praefect took it and said "get it back at the end of the day". Last period.

She left it on the middle of a desk and just left the damn building. So I really only got it taken away for 5 minutes.

I'm not putting them up. Sends the wrong image on the first day of school.

I've done things like make word problems using pokemon and stuff but that was only because I knew the class and knew there were many students who would appreciate it and remember the subject of the lesson because of it.

uh I was looking at the students. The teachers at my school confiscate phones and after they are done teaching they usually use up all but one of the password attempts, so that if the student screws up they get locked out. Students still use their phones during class and I have no clue why @_@

My geom teacher just talks about her life and shes like 50 and we think she's cool you just gotta relate to the youth. Also, don't try too look like you want to be cool with them, because they'll read right through it and just not have as much respect as you. If this has anything to do with the topic at hand.

What school do you go to? Damn. I've never seen a teacher try to get into a student's phone. I only had my phone confiscated once, and I took the battery out before I gave them the phone anyways

Update because people have actually been asking me this. No, I did not actually put up any of these monstrosities in my classroom. However, that did not stop be from being a cornball that gets too much of his sense of humor from the internet.

Case in point, the following appeared verbatim on a page of a smartboard lesson of mine:
"Triangles? In my Quads Unit?
It's more likely than you think."

I usually put some random funny picture from the internet at the end of my Trig lessons because this class is basically just full of seniors who don't like math at all but just need a fourth year of math for college transcripts. I just want them to have something they can enjoy.

I also run a pokemon/magic/d&d club that my students begged me to run. Made a mother cry because her son with severe Aspergers made his first friends ever because of my club.

I always preferred teachers who didn't think they could somehow get on my level with funny and cool and just did what they thought was funny and cool.
