Then take initiative and talk with other people. Waiting for people to come to you is a poor choice.

I intend to, I'm just horrible at starting conversation, so i like to try and force others to approach me first. When I get too bored I'll start approaching others. Shouldn't take too long.

here's a quick breakdown of RPS since i'm the only one whose really played it before

1. anyone on a team doesn't want to talk and wants to wait for others to talk
2. greens want to talk
3. greens also want to get rid of vigilantes which hurts a team pretty badly
4. teams want to lynch their target team's vigilante last in order to win
5. teams want to lynch the team-targeting-them's vigilante asap
6. the night death shows us that one team is down a person, with a 50% chance that it is the guardian and a 25% chance each that it is either the vigilante or the seer (slightly more likely seer dead than vigilante if the choice was based on role usefulness)
7. lynching someone who is obviously green is the strongest move in a day phase unless the green team unites quickly as a negotiating block -- this causes the teams to hide from each other most easily
8. this game will last 3 or less phases as late-game is less about figuring stuff out (shit becomes pretty clear) and more about negotiating and backstabbing

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first two votes!

I appreciate the decision to spring into action and try to generate some meaningful conversation, but I'm not sure where to begin. I don't think firing off a random vote myself would contribute anything to the discussion.

We have roughly 48 hours left in Day 1. I can't see why the 11 of us would even somewhat agree on a "candidate." What do you all think? What's a good way we could pick up the level of activity inside this thread?

Did this scenario ever occur in the game(s) you played? That would certainly be a major shift from the game's initial standpoint.

yes, it started out as a game of lynching greens and then fiction turned it into a game of bartering with fiction.

http://forum.ffya.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7483

This is an incredibly good study of how this set-up runs. You will need to create an FFYa login.

Here's a quick synopsis
1. day one people decide lynching greens is the easiest tactic
2. greens realize if one of them publicly reveals (fiction) and the other greens come to that person, they can create a voting block to control the lynch keeping themselves alive throughout the game
3. my team mate (viccica, seer, scissors) died N1 and i tried to force fiction (the greens) into lynching my other team mate (our guardian) so that i could force paper into guarding me while i killed them. it was an attempt at coercing the green team to win exclusively with scissors, making the green team the scissors++ team.
4. the whole thing became a 36 hour exercise in chaos theory after that, ending in a rock victory

lessons to take home:
1. you need to act quickly with your strategy and solidify it before winning moves out of your grasp
2. you need to make sure your strategy has an alternate win if the first prong fails

and at this point it makes the most sense to come out as green so that the other greens know that it is in their best interest to come out to me ASAP so we can keep ourselves from being lynched. i don't have aim, so you will need to PM me.

I thought the point of this game was to see what direction new players would take it in, not force it in the same direction it already went.

I am a less happy veiwer to the thread now.

hey greens

we are in this together, we need each other if we are going to win, please contact me so i can get all of us in touch. You have nothing to lose by doing so because you can't be vigi'd, only lynched and contacting me isnt going to get you lynched

That doesnt look suspicious at all. Wouldnt that just drive any greens away from you if you are, in fact, a green?

Better question, what would you do if you were green? If I was a green, I would see myself as a wildcard in this game. I should be the one you lobby to to get me on your team. If I were green, I would be willing to listen to all offers available. Think of the kind of potential you have as green in this game.

It seems to me that if people know you're a green, then they're going to just discount anything you say.

I would be really leery of using anyone who's stated goals are to lynch my team mates.

Everyone is trying to kill your teammates one way or another. I don't think you should discount what anyone says. If you do that, you may be cutting off an ally that may go work for the enemy and take you out with what ever info you shared. To me, I think greens are the strongest in the game. The only way they die, is through a lynch. Blues can't touch them. They are one of two things at this point. Either they are your greatest allies if you get them on your side, or the greatest enemy to everyone and should be eliminated.

Ugh, I'll go for Senip for being wary about a green aliance leader.

Seems like that's odd logic considering that V really hasn't done anything to show that he's even a green. If he's a vigi, then obviously he's going to want to know who the greens are so he can take them out, since green's whole schtick is to kill vigis.
