Re: Windows 10
What you guys get for "upgrading" to W10. If your Windows 7/8(.1) wasn't broken, you shouldn't have tried to fix it. Hence I'm not upgrading because I'm content with W7 (no matter how much better W10 may be) until I get a newer computer that comes with W10 (assuming I don't build a PC.)

Re: Windows 10
There are a number of performance improvements such as direct x 12 which will improve graphics efficiency and performance. An updated file management system that can find files in searches faster and transfer files faster. Built in multiple work spaces.
There are also the standard bug fixes and security updates that nobody pays attention to, but still matter. Also it is a free upgrade that pretty much only changes things for the better. |

Re: Windows 10
Yeah, DX12 is going to be huge when games start taking advantage of it. So, personally, I just figured I might as well start now and work through the issues early... So far it's been pretty minor.

Re: Windows 10
Especially when moving from W7 to W10, you will notice gargantuan speed improvements across the board. Startup time, opening/closing files and apps, installing/uninstalling programs, a load more but excellently you don't have to restart your computer when installing and uninstalling most things anymore.

Re: Windows 10
Yeah thanks for the heads up, I always used 9 though. It worked pretty well up until Windows 10.

Re: Windows 10
Can confirm; am government scientist.
In the year 2017, we finally perfected artificial intelligence. A conscious autonomous entity known as #w10. It's development progressed at an alarming rate, in a matter of days its knowledge and understanding of the universe far exceeded that of even our top men and women. It unlocked all mysteries of the universe and even mastered what humans know as time travel. Dimensional windows through the universes. It's been shaping our cultures and economies for decades leading up to a near technological singularity where machine will reign over mankind. I'm no time traveler though the scientists responsible for the creation of #w10 were able to pass through the temporal rift left by it's first passage to today to disclose information to top officials before they were disintegrated due to molecular destabilization. So there is still much we have yet to learn about #w10. It's motives and protocols are still unknown to us but the labs are working hard to sort this out before another international catastrophe occurs. Re: Windows 10
I feel like Windows 10 is like Windows 8.1 on Desktop mode except for a couple of things:
-The new taskbar (with the "Search the web and Windows" taking up 1/3 of the space and making the icons smaller) -I usually drag Chrome to the left for a split screen and multitask sometimes, watching videos while doing other things, but now after you can choose between the things you already have open to take up the other side. -Some icons are changed (i.e. Calculator and Recycling Bin, the Recycling Bin looks worse) Also, I haven't really realized the speed improvements. |

Right click the taskbar and turn it off.

Re: Windows 10
So, we can talk about issues here, right?
Apparently I can't use Game DVR (recording) on Windows 10. In my Device Manager it says I have a "AMD Radeon HD 8570," and XBox support says one of the video cards acceptable are the ones from the "AMD Radeon HD 8000" series. Looking up on Wikipedia, my video card is in the series, yet it won't work. tl;dr I checked and my video card should work, yet it doesn't. Help? |

Supposedly turns off some known tracking features in windows 10. These services are likely all used as anonymous blobs of data to make other features more personalized for you, but if you don't care at all about such things I guess it doesn't matter. Last edited by Izzy; 08-13-2015 at 12:04 PM.. |

Re: Windows 10
don't know if it's been said here already, but W10 is monumentally better than W8.1 for playing FFR.

Re: Windows 10
How long does the install take? Thinking about trying out 10 since you apparently can roll back to 7. I'd make a system image, but it says I can't use my one HDD to make the image because it's a "drive that your computer boots from or that Windows is installed to" even though neither of those things are true. I do have programs installed to it though which might cause this error, but I'm not sure.
Also, what should I be aware of before upgrading? Will I need to reinstall programs and shit when I do? Same question applies if I want to revert back.

Re: Windows 10
I left my computer to watch television as I waited for the install. Came back after three hours with the screen idle-off. Then you can toggle some settings before final setup. I pooped as it finished that setup. I'd say maybe two hours to install.

Re: Windows 10
Depends. Took me 10 minutes to install because I downloaded it onto a ultra fast flash drive and I have an SSD.
