![]() i just dont see stinger being an 89 or marked with fgos, although it has no section that is over the top extremely hard, for over a minute it constantly throws you a stream of rainbow patterns which are all easy to screw up on and you constantly need to transition between rolling rolls, some jumptrilling, bursts, and then again for 20 seconds. simply, every single note has the potential to kill the aaa. getting like 5 or fewer is relatively quite manageable though.
dont know about slashmaid since its just everything im bad at and i havent tried to seriously score on it. my assumption is that it is just as hard or a small bit harder. |

![]() I'd much rather do 91+ FSO than drop it to 90+ and include both Stinger and Slashmaid as 13s. I wouldn't like bumping them down to 89s but I'd hate even more to call those files 13s.

![]() The way I'm now thinking of it, Rawb, Stinger is one of the hardest FGOs and Shrooms is one of the easiest FSOs (I believe it was Dossar who said Shrooms had so many dickish one-handed patterns that it couldn't be anything less on principle) and by that logic 91 should be the FSO cutoff.

also unrelated can vrofl be made 100 or something to be distinguished from rato or not possible. just randomly bugs me. |

![]() Isn't FSO territory 92+? Leave it as it is. That difficulty range is perfectly fine since there aren't that many files in that range to begin with and I don't think there will be a lot more any time soon. Definitely want to see the 1-13 scale back though. I would explain more but typing on a phone is like masturbating with sandpaper.

50-57/58-65/66-78/79-84, which are ranges of 8, 8, 13, and 6. Eight to thirteen is a bit of a skip, so maybe we should rework those requirements around whatever we decide here. The numbers, I can't argue so well about them, because I haven't spent all that time rating files like the difficulty consultants. I still have some difficulty name suggestions, though. I don't think there's a need to change Difficulty 13 from "???"/"____", so I don't have anything to add to that discussion. Could pull a Friends and call the difficulty "In which everyone gets carpal tunnel". /joke I'm going to repeat a point I made in the old thread: "For Beginners" looks odd between "Easiest" and "Very Easy". And "For Beginners" doesn't sound like something that should go after "Easy", so that name should be replaced. As for a word to go between Easy and Standard ... actually, I'd rather do away with Standard to avoid confusion with [Standard] files, but we never stopped using that word, so let's throw "Light" in too. 1...Easiest...............1........(1) 2...Very Easy............2-3....(2) 3...Easy...................4-6....(3) 4...Light...................7-10...(4) 5...Standard.............11-16..(6) 6...Tricky.................17-23..(7) 7...Difficult...............24-31..(8) 8...Very Difficult........32-41..(10) 9...Challenging..........42-53..(12) 10..Very Challenging...54-65..(12) 11..FMO...................66-78..(13) 12..FGO...................79-90...(12) 13..???....................91-99...(9) The numbers aren't really a suggestion, I just put them there to show about how they were originally (mostly affecting Tricky through Challenging). With the 20-difficulty system, I had an issue with the words before "Difficult" covering too much space (didn't want to discourage players who weren't quite at that skill level yet), but that's not a problem here. Let's change everything by changing nothing! Charu's suggestion of getting rid of "Tricky" isn't a bad idea, because the word does kind of stick out like a slightly irritated thumb. But nothing above Difficult will ever really change in our heads. And "Tricky" kind of is a good word to go between "Standard" and "Difficult". ... And now I'm just getting confused by how "Standard" can mean "the usual" or "average", and ... What is "standard" in this game? Certainly not files that are that easy. ... But anyway. Yeah, Standard, it's the difficulty between Light and Heavy. Which means ... *walks off, rambling to self about nothing important* |

Standard is 10-16 Tricky is 17-24 Difficult is 25-34 Very Difficult is 35-45 Challenging is 46-55ish (55 is split with old Cs and old VCs) I dislike the 8/8/13/5 split between the token ranges, but if there aren't any intentions of adding some sort of 'Super Scarhand' token, the difficulty ceiling for Scarhand [Heavy] could easily be extended to 90 to include all FGOs, much like Oni does. |

Voted yes. The names don't matter too much. Throw it back to when we only had 12 difficulties and then make up our minds on a 13. For Savants Only or something. Keeps the current FSO title. -o24

1-20 never caught on. I also like the 100 point system. Voted yes. Keep 1-13 and 1-100 systems. Use old names for 1-13. Make it clear what ranges in the 100 scale correlate to what names in the 13 scale. FSO as "For Savants Only" actually sounds really cool, I like andy-o24's suggestion. Keeps the 13 = FSO tradition, doesn't sound retarded, actually has the proper meaning of someone above a "master" or "guru" If you guys want a "Super Scarhand" token I'm sure that one of my files will be chosen :P Can't let hard hi19 files be public, can we? EDIT- Oni actually did come from the Japanese for "Demon" as far as I know. It has its origins in the Oni courses on DDR, which were represented on-screen by the character for "Demon" This character is also present for the difficulty above "heavy" in Stepmania. It's a term that has been in the community since its inception.
