Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
It's not about the work in soulwar's case, it's about the dishonesty of not being straightforward about skill level. In a division-based tournament, if you play against people who are way worse, and win, you're essentially cheating and taking a prize you don't deserve. If he was just another active, well-known player being moved up to D4 in the middle of the tournament for a legit reason (like wanting to be pushed up) I would be all for letting him continue - but this is not one of those cases. Hell, at this point we can't even be sure he won't win D4 if given the chance.Last edited by qqwref; 08-8-2012, 07:25 PM.Best AAA: Policy In The Sky [Oni] (81)

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
Why would I welcome someone who I know has been in this community? Plus the personality you play does not add up at all. You play innocent (live you've done in the past), then you play the whole stop harrassing me card (so lame), and then you play your final dry, sarcastic remarks card. Sounds like someone I already know who is known for bs. *cough cough*Wow, that's some great mentality for a person trying to focus on improving his or her skill! You don't welcome competition at all, and you ostracize others that might be a potential competitor. In addition, you flaunt the fact that you're a veteran after playing for only 0.13 years. That's pretty amazing and shows your lack of ability to welcome people. Keep it up buddy! I'm sure you'll do great with that mentality in upcoming tournaments. Keep it up.
But then again, it's whatever. This tournament has already fallen apart in my opinion anyway. The people who did placements this year allowed d5 players to sandbag until the 5th round. Congrats you guys!Originally posted by One Winged Angelur my favorite :')

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
I was originally placed into Division 1 and I requested to be put into a higher division, of at least division 3. I think I had a very challenging AAA or something along those (even higher I think) before signing up for the tournament. I made sure to play some hard songs. Also, I've been training extremely hard as well, playing through the majority of songs in Xoon and SMG packs, so that gave me a boost as well. I've never been dishonest about my skill, just pretty darn obscure because I prefer playing stepmania over FFR most of the time. I'm not ohmygodamazing good but I did believe I was at least Division 3. I think I would still give it my best if I got put into Division 5, I'm not going to go down without a fight~It's not about the work in soulwar's case, it's about the dishonesty of not being straightforward about skill level. Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
soulwar is currently being investigated. If he's simply making fair play yet trying his best, then there's nothing for him to be worried about.
Meanwhile, this thread will be temporarily locked. We don't want speculation to turn into a distasteful argument, do we?
edit: The investigation is complete and so this thread is now unlocked. Please don't get out of hand, guys.Last edited by bmah; 08-8-2012, 10:32 PM.Comment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
Continuing the discussion in a civilized manner... I completely agree with noname's solution to this (I was about to suggest the EXACT same thing, but he beat me to it). Soulwar has stated that he/she doesn't care about prizes and is mostly interested in competing in the tournament. Proceed with the tournament and rankings as if Soulwar weren't even in the competition, and consider Soulwar as an "extra". Rankings 1-16 should be calculated as normal, with prizes distributed accordingly. AFTER those have been calculated, you should then place Soulwar into the mix to determine whether he/she advances to the next round as well as what the overall rank should be. This way, none of the current D4 competitors are affected by the situation while at the same time, Soulwar is still able to compete.
Now, what prizes should be given out to Soulwar is completely up to the discretion of the people running the tournament (whether it be credits, tokens, etc). Everyone just has to realize that mistakes are impossible to avoid when it comes to choosing divisions, plain and simple. Obviously some people are going to cheat and everyone has their suspicions, but lets face it... its a game. If this is really so much of a problem, then we should just have one huge division so nobody is butthurt (I'm sure everyone would just LOVE that). Just have fun, and enjoy the competition.Comment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
findarian, did you bump me off the bubble spot? youuuuuu
dammit I keep telling myself I won't play so my mindblocks will fade, and then I see what the standings are. if I were in last I wouldn't give a ****, but being on the borderline is terribly aggravating.
edit: there is now a gnat in my room that only flies in my face when I'm playing ffr.Last edited by dAnceguy117; 08-9-2012, 04:10 PM.Comment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
^ riiiiiiiight? lmfao
I figured out a workaround for most of my mindblockage :') and it's the goofiest shit, too. I just stare down the 3 and 4 columns. like, to the point where 0% of my focus is on 1 and 2. no idea how my left hand knows what to do. gonna ragequit again soon, but I think I have a shot here.
anyone else have tips for mindblocks? looking right at the receptors seems to make mine worse. also I can't read dizzy, lol.Comment

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
Try playing while listening to some music you really like and mute FFR, I almost always play like that and it helps me alot with nerves/mindblocks. Just focus a bit more on the music than on the game and let your fingers go. A few plays should be enough to get the right focus on game/music.^ riiiiiiiight? lmfao

Re: 7th Official FFR Tournament
thank ya. sounds good, shall try. I rely pretty heavily on the music, so I dunno if I'll get great results. at least I'll get to listen to something else for a while rofl.Comment
But that should be fair for everyone left.
