Well just wait on it. Sometimes the best thing is to just wait until your skill gets better. I've had to do that with many songs before I attempted the FC/SDG/AAA.

Not necessarily holding back, like YoshL said he just needs to get used to FFR and he'll start climbing through difficult songs

He's purposely playing SM more till he reaches a specific skillset. If he played FFR more with his current SM ability, he would easily reach D5. Converting may be a pain in the ass, but it doesn't require that much to show a d5ish skillset. D6 would be different.

Distant improved my reading by at least 20%, until ffr implements that in some form or another i cant convert lol
