I used 3.9
Now I can't go back because sm5 is the only stepman that runs on OSX Lion. |

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 (Submissions Open)
I remember r21 freak. I sorta left after they bitched about my pad simfiles having no PR. I don't want ot see a pad simfile with pitch relevancy.
Anyways, bmah, if you're having issues with bpm gimmicks, I'm familiar with them, especially sightreadable ones. Hit me up if you need help. |

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 (Submissions Open)
Alrighty, thanks for the offer. I can make xmod files, just not comfortably. Takes a lot of thinking on my part...it's not a snap. In particular, I like to use negative bpm gimmicks. :>

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 (Submissions Open)
If you need those done, ask WinDEU or something. Last time I tried negative BPMs I realized that it was like roulette or something (no, not like Roulette by Y&Co.).

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 (Submissions Open)
I was told negative gimmicks are anything but random. Apparently it's not guessing at all, and that's the part where I think a lot of people can learn from - if only there was such a guide or something. No such guide seem to exist.

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 (Submissions Open)
Here is a tip. If you are using negative bpms, there are two things you need to remember:
-The negative bpm should be the same as the bpm it skips to (i.e -200 bpm should skip to 200 bpm), otherwise it will take you to a random place. -When using negative bpms, have it return to the normal positive bpm the number of measures you want to skip. For example, if you place a negative bpm on m10 and have it return to normal on m11, it will skip to m12 (the space between m10 and m11 is your skipped space - Stepmania doesn't recognize it exists and anything put in there is seen but ignored). I used these in MAX 888, so I have some experience with working with them.

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 (Submissions Open)
YEah at first I thought Neg BPM was hard, but after looking at some files I realized how straightforward it is.
Also, Profraine, PR is actually important in a lot of styles of stepping. It helps allow the chart to make sense and really feels like you're stepping to the music. I did it a lot in my Intersect Thunderbolt file, and quite a few of my Touhou Pad Pack files when it's needed (Not all files have it, but some do)

Re: FFR Community Pack Summer 2012 (Submissions Open)
Yeah, PR is important, but less so in pad stepping. The way your feet connects from one arrow to another is first priority, according to pad stepper's rhetoric (although I find strictly adhering to this rule inhibits variety - there would be no such thing as Healing Vision Angelic Mix). PR is a nice addition but not necessary. When you play with your fingers on the keyboard, PR becomes more important as it relates more closely to playing an instrument such as a piano. When you dance on the pad, you're dancing, not trying to imitate an instrument.

Awesome. If the file turns out to be red or orange, do you pm/comment here on the issues with the file?
