Re: League of Legends
Albeit the way you handled that was pretty funny, my point still stands.
Can anyone explain why those modes which are clearly not balanced nor should ever be considered for playing besides for subjective fun? Or is it perhaps the "hipster" idea of playing a game the way it's NOT intended to be played? I just completely fail to see the appeal of it, even though I have participated in it. It's as if you are playing hide and seek, but the person doesn't close their eyes to count and sees where everyone goes. Perhaps he is having fun, but all the other kids, who know the agreed-upon rules of the game, will proceed to call this player a ****ing dumbass: that's what ARAM/ARAB is: the kid that cheats at hide and seek. Re: League of Legends
That's some hilarious milk.
Anyways... Because it's fun to play random team comps and own? It's good team fight practice the entire time (quick decision making skills), no last hit minigame, and teaches good/bad positioning and initiation. And it does all of these things quickly. It's also a hell of a lot less stressful. You can also do unconventional builds which is super fun. proving grounds seems more balanced than arab but I still prefer arab. (who said bruisers own arab? it's clearly an ad carry's world) It's also easier to come back in arab unless you can prolong it and have a better comp. But I haven't played a TON of proving grounds aram so whatever. Comparing it to hide and seek is a bad analogy. Especially since they'd all be cheating at hide and seek together instead of just one kid doing it. But I can't really think of a better one at the moment...

Re: League of Legends
aram is merely a deviation of the standard game played by a subset of the population complete with its own rules and metagame which said population follows
kind of like how aos was a deviation of the standard starcraft game which gave rise to dota which gave rise to lol etc etc i dont actually see what the issue is here |

Re: League of Legends
No issue here at all, just merely saying I don't see the appeal of a mode where team comp and strategical picking of characters, laning and ganking and the thought of last hitting are absolutely null and void and was challenging people to state as to why they think it's fun in the first place, which blu so far has done the best job of.
Maybe I'm just sheltered and play too many normals, though. "Whatever floats your boat". |

Re: League of Legends
play adam if you want picks and bans to be important
last hitting is just as important in adam/aram/arab if you want to carry what blu said about using it as a method of training teamfighting skills (which if you ask me is what definitively sets apart mediocre from expert players) games are shorter and you don't have to deal with asshats instalocking shitty carries like you do in normals (i mean i used to care about winning normals but now when somebody does that i pretty much just troll the living shit out of them) imo proving grounds doesn't provide for any creative positioning but nobody seems to play arab anymore so whatever point being, like an isolation file for ffr it distills out certain core aspects of the game and allows you to focus on practicing them only problem now is that the proving grounds map has brought out swarms of shitty players and most games end up being total derp 1900+ games take forever to fill sadly |

Re: League of Legends
Alright so it's basically to practice a) individual positioning b) team dynamics?
because when I played it, it was a chaotic mess, moreso than a coordinated face-off. I then also assume that the more people you have to play this with which are non-pubs the more fun this is? Def. willing to give it another try if the skills learned from it can improve my team-fighting performance. |

Re: League of Legends
yea pretty much
as with anything you only get as good as your best opponent so make a game with people you know and kick anyone with under 800 wins or 1400 elo you'll see a huge improvement to your teamfight awareness after a couple days of nonstop aram/arab also if enough people were interested we could set up ffr inhouses |

Re: League of Legends
So I had the best game of the century. In normals, no less.
I go into norms, decide to play Xin because why the **** not? He's Xin Zhao. The two bottom picks instalock mids after I call top, and the other pick Ezreal and Irelia. I'm like, what the hell I already called top etc. So, I figure I'll go jungle. She picks smite RIGHT after the 10 second wait before the client opens without me seeing. Bot gets owned for a little while, Swain does fine mid. Absolutely RAPE their Jarvan and their Shaco when he ganked me. After getting two of my core items and getting top tower (think I was 6/1 then), we kill mid and I figure, why not let's baron. We have two smites lol. Taric comes in for no reason, we ace their team, surrender etc. tl;dr free week jarvan too stronk, i faceroll **** THE ODDS NIKKUH, I'M WIN NHAO
