Is 4:00 too long for a song? I know it is longer than average, but there are a few songs 4:00 and even longer on FFR. I got 2 -'s because of the length.

Well, it all depends.
Its kinda hard to make a song that long because most of the time the song gets boring because the same pattern is repeated a lot. Is your song mixed up? Not just the same boring pattern a lot throughout the song. Thats why a lot of people don't like my songs, which im trying to fix, and im improving.
And I understand if it goes with the beat, which is hard for a lot of 4min + songs, even 3 min.
Which is why you should just cut the song and make it into a shorter version ^^
That always helps.

Boring-long songs are the worst. Crazytass-long songs like BB Evo/Revenge are acceptable.

Exactly my point, because they always keep you on your toes and is are fun songs at the same time.

Alucard: while song length won't automatically prohibit a song from getting in the game, we aren't going to add every 8 second long file sent to us. frankly, we don't really want another. we didn't really want excite bike, but it's a bit funny, and it's a novelty to have the one.

knoobish: to explain... i +d your file. as shown in my comments. shash did not + it, and he gave reasons why in his file. jx played it only because i +d it... but he didn't + it, and he gave his reasons why. please take the comments of shash and jx and use them to fix your file up.

xander: july 17th was the cutoff for the last batch.

its not that hard to test files anyone can do it just listen tothe song while you hit the arrows I always pay close attention to the music in FFR and arrows while I play cause it helps you get FC's when it matches the beat

Anyone can play a song and tell whether or not they had fun, but it's not easy to determine whether a sim is actually good/fun and determine whether it's really synced well. It takes a lot of skill and knowledge to be able to do that (not to mention quickly).

If you're talking about testing in passing then whatever, yeah, lots of people can do that...

Even so, Ssonik has a decent point, too. Once you've played a certain amount of files, it becomes very easy to pick out the sh!t files from the good ones. As for how well-synced a song is, just put on the auto-tick and listen for any flaws.

I do, however, agree with you, in that most people do not have that kind of keen judgement.

You'd have to be an experienced simfile artist or a judge to know that your statement is completely wrong. Testing a file isn't just about listening and hitting buttons. You have to take into consideration of form, composition, patterns, and difficulty.

Thanks, I messed up reading it. I thought that the [Tass +] notes were from files you +'ed, and I got confused.
