![]() adding another judge makes our life MUCH harder... because now we have to have THREE people playing 40 files a week vs 2 people playing 40 files a week.
and we're picky because we are getting FORTY ****ING FILES A WEEK. if we let in every queue worthy file PLUS every "needs minor tweaking" file, the queue would be double the size... AND... those "needs minor tweaking" files would have things that are wrong with them in them... whereas many files have gone from needing 1 or 2 minor fixes to being in the queue... and they're better files now. ALSO... jacks & ffr JUST DON'T GO WELL TOGETHER. putting jacks ANYWHERE into a file where it doesn't fit perfectly.... will almost certainly get it rejected. and talisman: when i played the file, i felt that there were 4 specific sections of jacks. the 1st one and the 3rd one were the same, and went strongly to the music. the 2nd and 4th ones were the same also... but didn't go nearly as strongly to the music. as for cash cow... i approved it both times. shash is the one with an issue on it. and to those who think i have issues with trills and runningmen.... i only have issues with them when they could be done better, or done in a fashion that is more appropriate with the rest of the file. we don't want files like Force of Light, where the whole thing is boring boring boring... and then 2 seconds of difficulty. i think the best case to make that Shash and I are doing a damn good job... a) MOST people like MOST of the songs that are being released. b) Shash and I agree on almost every single file. about 90%. and clearly we are fairly far apart in skill level.

I was about to make a song that is fairly straightforward and easy for the most part, and one section is rather difficult. However, the song calls for such steps (including the difficult part). Would you take something like that into consideration?

I don't know WHY people think this is such a bad thing (hi19 is always snickering at it). Makes perfect sense to me. The point of a classical file is to make you feel that you are actually PLAYING the music, whereas the point of other files is to make you feel like you're going ALONG with the music...so sure, different rules apply to classical files. bmah: if it really does fit with the song, and the crazy part isn't TOO crazy compared to the rest, then that's fine.

![]() Oh, didn't know that. Maybe someone should compile a list of such sub-rules, cause I certainly never knew about that rule! (unless you made it up on the spot)

![]() After all of my bitching, I don't see you adding me as a third level admin. Who knows. If you REALLY did it, I would have no problem playing the files and stuff. No problem telling you what I thought, but what good would it do if you guys went against my opinions...I guess I can understand that with as many simfiles as we get, judging should be more strict, but I don't really like that. If we get too many files, release more...
Don't have the time? I do. I have more free time than anyone on this site. Almost no homework, no job, nothing to do. I'd certainly have the time to put sims up and check and fix the sync of existing files (if that would be alright). I guarantee you, a third level admin would not make it any harder. And if I am wrong in any way, ban me permanently. I wish you would just give me a month to do everything myself. Judge the files myself and everything. ![]() If you've ever played any of the classical songs you'd know that.
It's mostly because there's one central instrument (namely piano in most cases) and it sounds better to step EVERYTHING that's being played instead of stepping it rhythmically. It's because what's being played seems more exposed, and it's 10x as fun to be playing everything the song is playing. Really makes you feel like your keyboard is a piano almost. At least that's how I see it. @Rebirth, tass collects all the files then sends a very large file to Shash at the end of the week with every file. This is coming straight from me talking with him. It's understandable to keep it to two people, because adding a third person means Tass needs to send another VERY large file to another person, and get input from them as well. It won't speed anything up. If anything it'll just slow them down.

![]() Solution:
Secret filefront account or something. Upload a zip full of the sims one time and send the link to both judges. I would be able to play all of the files in the same day, or before the evening hours the next day (depending on when I recieve it), and can have all of my opinions on a notepad file. |

![]() Alternatively, the second judge could send the file to the third. Making Rebirth a judge would only result in more, better quality files.

Agreed.
We would not urge you to add more judges if there weren't a problem. As it stands, both of you seem incredibly busy and often seem to struggle with the overwhelming new influx of files. To be honest, since this thread became popular, people aren't going to STOP submitting files; if anything, file submissions will continue to grow. I'm pretty sure that it's not because people like Rebirth are power-hungry: it's that they think they can actually help. The only problem I foresee with you continuing just the two of you is a continuing buildup of files and, possibly, mounting stress. If you're really ready to put up with that, that's totally your call. But if you ever need it, there are plenty of qualified people ready to help you out, myself included.

![]() It won't really help, seeing how all of the judges have to play the files.

![]() Perhaps if x out y judges agree on the quality of a given file, the others don't need to play it.

![]() I sound like I'm very power hungry, when I'm not.
I just REALLY want to sync the files that go into the game. Syncing was nice for the FFRmas sims, but after that it went downhill until I complained. I don't want to be complaining about that every time a file is added, so what else can I do but sync it myself? It is true that Tass and Shash have been very busy lately. That's another reason. I want to make sure we are kept up to date on everything. When a simfile is released, a new subscriber song should be added that night. I would like that. |

![]() and they'd all have to agree on the files.....
guys. Shash and I have both had long talks with Jason AND Synth about this... neither one of us feels any extra pressure. none of the files being submitted are waiting for longer than 1 week to get tested. PLENTY of extra random files are getting added to help keep down the queue.... you say you want to do all these things to help... but from our side of things, of knowing how all this works... you would NOT be helping. it would NOT make anything easier. it would make EVERYTHING harder. by a lot. more than anything right now, we need help with the news stories. i'm fairly sure both Rebirth and Jimerax were given access to help with that. also, we could use help with the Style for each song. Chardish started working on a list of the style of every song in FFR... but only got through about 20 songs. EDIT: talk to Shash about the syncing. I only do what he tells me to do when it comes to syncing. AND... I try to get a subscriber song added right away when the new file is released publically.... not always possible, but i have made sure to get 2 new files out by Sunday.
