Judges will have to suit each era: We'll pick 3 judges that know the community inside and out from 2004-2007 and 3 judges that have been around for the last year or so. Basically an example would be
1st era: Chris, Jx, Scott.
2nd era: 3 people from 2004-2007 (Plus everyone above)
3rd era: 3 people from 2007~ (Plus everyone above)
Each overlap for assurance of better judgment. We'll be selecting judges for the other eras based off of our judgment.

Scott your a legend. Thanks for making this happen and this is turning out to be far better then how I orginally envisioned it.

Keep up the good work.

Edit: I dont see the need for the third era yet. Its only November '07. Personally I would like to see the first two era's filled in and wait till at-least new years to induct members into the third era.

Also looking foward to the other aspects of the HOF to come, there could be some really good ideas for that.

I'm actually thinking about going with
2003-2005
2005-2007
2007-
Makes more sense. 2002 isn't even worth the effort to comprise a list of.

use the list I made in the previous thread as a base. I didn't look through any old threads or older top lists... was all off the top of my head... but I'd say all the names I mentioned are probably worthy of consideration, if not induction.

I'm willing to help in any way that that is needed. I know you said not to ask to be a judge, and I don't want to be a judge. I've done stuff like that before and I don't want to do it again, or at least not right now.

Just a little thought, some has been said before, some has not. some are probably stupid ideas, but whatever.

I love how many people are trying to point to some single accomplishment in thehopes of getting into the hall of fame.

I think you're far better off treating it like most existing sports halls of fame: Allow in people in all the categories you've been listing (players, simfile writers, forum presences etc) but don't categorize them based on what they did to get in.

Hold open votes for a given era, say have the judges generate a top list of 10 or 15 people for the era they're looking at, open it up to voting by veteran people (You'd have to do it via PM rather than a poll to establish that voters were around long enough to qualify [Baseball has the 'veterans commitee' to vote]) and then the judges would make the final determiniation from say, the top 8, of 4 or 5 people to be inducted that time into the hall of fame.

Further elections of people sufficiently old could take place as time went on.

This avoids the need to pin down precise eras in your voting. If the list of 15 people come from "Anyone whose account is older than 2 years" with each successive election of people, you have newer people who've qualified into that bracket, giving you no shortage of potentials to induct.

Then the honour would be primarily in being inducted earlier rather than later, instead of trying to decide whether it is more of an honour to get into the "old" year-range when there were fewer people, but the exceptionals stood out more; or the newer range where there is more fierce competition.

Barry Bonds might end up in the hall of fame for all the home runs, but he'll still have to deal with getting in as Hank Aaron's "equal" but decades later in what is functionally an entirely new game.
