Since this is a thread about hand position, does anyone think that it is weird if I use two hands but only three fingers? I heard people say that they use both index and both middle fingers, but I only use my right index, right middle, and left index finger. Does anyone else do this? And as for the screencutting, I am not sure if you should or shouldn't screencut while trying to learn a new style.

3 fingered like that is probably tied for the 2nd most successful style.

You can either screencut or use speed mods, but I don't recommend both. And you should definitely drop the style you're using right now, as it is extremely inefficient.

I dropped index, because I can't do things like CIA Rave, I can see how spread would make that really easy. I havin't really ever screencut, but speedmods help me out

Aww....I thought that my style was unique. I read that people play three fingered but I always figured that they meant one hand with their index, middle, and ring finger. I didn't think that they meant they use two hands. I Guess that I'm not unique after all.

Oh my god, I've been playing FFR for a pretty long time--I started in middle school (I remember because I'd play Trip to the Moon in the morning for fun LOL), and I never knew there were different finger styles! What is this nonsense?! I just use my right hand--index, middle, and ring finger. I suck. LOL. This is also my first time venturing into the forums.

I used to play index, until I got just beyond the difficulty of songs like Alpha Helix, where I found that my fingers couldnt move fast enough, so I switched to spread.

The advantage of spread is you can sort of seperate the arrows on the left and right and do them semi-independantly of each other.

alright..heres sum i know of

index: both hands using your index fingers only, both fingers must hit every key..not just stay on there sides..

spread(4 fingered)...u can either use the arrows( left hand index,down..middle left)(right hand index,up..middle right)...or use ur ring fingers and middles instead of index..

spread(3 fingered) smartdude..uses right hand middle,6 ..index 8 and 2 and left hand keypad

spread with keymapping....u can use same example as spread(4 fingered) but with keys like...( A,S left hand , K,L right hand...ect..)

1 handed.. (if ur right handed) index for left, middle for up and down, ring finger for right.
1 handed..(if ur left handed) same thing but switch ring finger and index around.

2 finger...ur index and middle on one hand to cover keys

thats prettyy much all i can think off...

i play index( but i use my middle fingers).adn a bit of spread using,,left hand index = down, left hand middle= left...right hand index = 8, right hand middle = 6
