To tell the truth, I don't think any instrument is boring. I think that if you play or modify the song so you can play it, and you like it, It's not boring.

I am basing this scale on that a 6 means you are very good compared at HS standards, as Jursey said.

I found that I learn instruments quickly, but because I got used as a utility player, I was put wherever there was a need, so I never got great at any one instrument. Here is my list, in order of appearance:

5 Trumpet
5 French Horn (Bb & F / Double)
3 Clarinet
5 Ocarina
3 Fluegel Horn
4 Mellophone
6 Baritone
3 Flute

Yeah played violin for 3 years and gave that up. Now I can't even read trebel clef. But I have just last year started to play double bass and after about 9 months of it went to a competition to see how good I was. Apparently I'm at a level where no other bass player in a small part of NY is at. Then again how many kids do you see these days playing a double bass? I'd give myself a 4 at the least and a 6.5 at the most.

I play piano and have been playing for almost 11 years (I'm almost 18 now). I would rate myself a 8/10 because last year I got 1st place in the Texas Federation of Music Club's annual All-State competition at TCU in the category "Very Difficult Level II".

Well, Dragula, can you hold up a porn groove on your bass? Those things have mean string skipping, octave, and slap n pops in them. Look up Billy Sheehan. He's a really good bassist.

Trumpet-7 or 8
French Horn- 7 or 8

I'd be better at horn but switching from mello to horn to mello messes me up >_>

Piano for six years and still playing.
I know how to play some songs only just to listen to it once (godfather, tetris, etc.)

I've been playing alto saxophone for about 4 years. I always play first part in my school's wind ensemble, so I would rate myself about a 5 or 6,

My father brought home a didgeridoo from a business trip to australia, so I've been working on that as well, except I'd give myself about a .5 skillwise

Oh yeah and I have a neighbor who got accepted into Juliard for trumpet a couple years ago, he was also invited to join the Canadian Brass

I've been a violist for 6 years now, and I'd rate myself a 6.5 on the old scale there.

I've recently picked up a Bass Guitar within the last year... so maybe a 2 or 3 there.

I played electric and bass guitar for about two years, and i never did find any reason why i should pick it up and try to advance on it if i'm just gonna do power chords the whole time. Timing is everything, so as long as I have that, i'm good. I'd rate myself a 3 or something.

Also played piano for about 4 years but went on and off on it after that. I was forced into it, which is probably the reason why I didn't like it much. I'd rate myself a 3 or 4 only because I can read fairly well and Bach's Invention No. 8 or Joplin's Entertainer only to be my best songs =/

I've been playing the violin for 9 years (since 4th grade) and would rate myself a 7 or 8.

I also picked up Viola, which I would rate myself a 7 or 8 as well because once you learn to read the viola music it's basically the exact same, except most viola music is easier than vioin.

I'm a drummer, I've been playing for almost 2 years. I picked up the drums because I got mad/frusturated at guitar and kinda quit. My brother played drums at the time, but he quit after a few months, so I bought them off of him for 280$. Decent price considering It's a 5 peice pearl kit with two cymbals plus roto-toms.

I don't exactly rate myself, but if I had to, I'd rate myself like a 7.

I've been playing the trumpet for about 6 years now, and thanks to ffr, I have the quickets chromatic runs out of the whole band . I also mess around with the piano once in a while, and I also have a bass. I can also play treble baritone, but that's the same thing as the trumpet, really.

If 1 is just got it, and 10 is beehtoven, I guess 6?
