If you think you have something to worry about, well you dont. Japan is a wonderful place, believe me. Even though you do not know how to speak the language, you are most likely to catch on to at least some of it while you are there. I am absolutely possitive that you will have a great time there, learning the Japanese culture and making friendships. Everyone there are always nice to tourist as long as you show respect. Key Word=Respect

Ah, good luck man.

In July I'll be heading to the Katsuyama (Okayama prefecture)...shame we wont be in Japan at the same time, we could meet up. Ha.

The past two weeks, I've been hosting a Japanese student. Honestly, the past two weeks have been some of the most fun weeks of my life. The Japanese kids were so nice, cute (seriously there is no way to describe their cuteness) and fun to be around. I miss them so much.

I'll only be in Japan for 2-3 weeks however.

One thing I learned from my time with the Japanese kids is how poor my knowledge of the language is (and I have studied the language for nearly 3 years.) So I am really kicking my ass now catching up.

Aye, well, have fun. And remember, take off your shoes before entering the house and NEVER put soy sauce on your rice....you have no idea how offensive that is to them.

I am seriously considering going to study in Peru next year for just about the same reason as you; to experience new culture and learn the language better. I would go to Spain but it's way more expensive, and I hear Lima is a pretty cool city from my dad who has a g/f there right now. There's about a 25% chance I'll go next year, which isn't too bad, right? I'll definitely spend some time there in the next few years if studying there isn't an option.

I'm so jealous of you. I'd love to go to Japan, but as many of you may know, my understanding of Japanese is no where near as good as it should be. Varia knows way more than me, and he's been studying it for a lesser time than me. I suppose I could go and just piss everyone off by speaking Japanese that's as bad as their English is stereotyped to be. I'd rather not be an asshole like that though. Maybe someday I'll go, but definitely not any time soon.

PS definitely post pictures of all the hot Japanese girls you see.

I start school tomorrow. I'm really nervous because they are making me give a speech to the entire school.

I didn't go to that arcade Snapps. I would love to, but I probably won't be able to. I did however get to play popn music for the first time. It's pretty fun. I went to this mall and played popn 7 or something. That one kind of sucked because the 5 keys mode was way too easy. But the other one by where I live is good.

Anyways, time to go to bed because I have to wake up at 6:30

Catch you thugs later. Post some pics when I download them off my camera. I'll bring it to school tomorrow. I have been told that my school has an extremely large amount of female students. Let me be the first to say SCORE!

Afro, it's the method you are doing it by. I recommend you use the Genki textbooks. If you can read hiragana and katakana you are set. It's really good and not hard to understand. You just have to put the time into it. I also recommend making a lot of Japanese internet friends. Conversing with them will be basically all English at first, but you will eventually progress.
