EDIT: Here is a video of the entire finals, all players' performances shown in tandem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYzFqlj_BpA
Fungah crushed Trip Machine Evolution (one of the harder level-18s in the game) with that 21-perfect PFC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vlXeV49OUs&t=3h41m50s Really crazy to pull this off first go in a live competition. Also an impressive comeback by Chris with his performance on Egoism 440. I've played and followed these games since I was in middle school / early high school, way back in 2001 or so, and have seen Chris' performance over the years. It was extremely satisfying to see him win, because it just felt so well-deserved after all that hard work. On a more selfish side-note: Chris and I have never met, and have not really even spoken much. We went to the same college, but he arrived just as I was leaving, so our paths never crossed. It's unfortunate, because I was really frustrated that I couldn't find any other rhythm-game players throughout my four years there. And not only does someone show up as I leave, but it's him, of all people. Talk about irony! Back to the tournament though, to compare the scores (from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLY_w8xbYPM#t=5h33m52s, reordered by rank per song): Code:
All charts on Challenge mode: Dead End (“Groove Radar” Special): FEFEMZ 1584 CHRS4LFE 1577 FUNGAH 1566 o4ma 1542 Paranoia Revolution: FEFEMZ 2128 FUNGAH 2106 CHRS4LFE 2100 o4ma 2041 Egoism 440: CHRS4LFE 2328 FEFEMZ 2262 FUNGAH 2198 o4ma 2165 Total: CHRS4LFE 6005 FEFEMZ 5974 FUNGAH 5870 o4ma 5748 But he did so well on it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLY_w8xbYPM#t=5h30m40s) that it moved him up from 2nd to 1st. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLY_w8xbYPM#t=5h4m51s o4ma picked Dead End, FEFEMZ picked Paranoia Revolution, and Chris picked Egoism 440. Definitely smart choices to make for maximizing their own chances of winning while minimizing chances for the others. Just turned out to be the case that Chris' pick gave him a better advantage compared to FEFEMZ's pick. FEFEMZ is not easy to beat: He's a top-level player in DDR (both singles and doubles), PIU (both singles and doubles), Jubeat, Pop'n, Sound Voltex, EZ2AC, IIDX, and Drummania. I'm probably forgetting some. He can hold his own against people who specialize in their respective games. Last edited by Reincarnate; 02-18-2017 at 11:55 AM.. |

The 6th KAC was significant in that several U.S. competitors participated in the DDR tournament, and that in the top 3, two of those slots were taken with U.S. competitors (with Chris being 1st). Chris built a tremendous amount of endurance ever since last year and that really paid off in this event. His Egoism 440 CSP score was actually nowhere near close to his best (1g FC) although I think by the last round most players were fatigued. |

lmfao @ 1:52
The difference in how they both approached that part is pretty funny FEFEMZ beasted it with full-on crossovers, Chris just cheesed it with a few jumps, hahahah Last edited by Reincarnate; 02-14-2017 at 08:25 AM.. |

If the ending didn't speed up to 840 I think FEFEMZ would also attempt the lateral crossovers at the end. What FEFEMZ does is basically the best way to do hard crossovers: Pivot movements in the waist, his upper torso does not move much.

They probably have a hard time passing Conga's Challenge chart cause they keep bitching about the framerate.

Man, this really has been a fucking win for the United States players all around.
Chris wins KAC. Jeff shows the world his ungodly consistency with that ridiculous Trip Machine Evolution PFC - a PFC on an 18 on the biggest stage he's likely ever played on... Both of them also took 2 out of the top 3 places in KAC. Then, Hudson (Kaze) does the unthinkable: gets a confirmed pass, on video, of Supernova 2's Boss Rush (ver 2). What the fuck.
