The people who like him aren't going to stop talking about him and there are MILLIONS of them. Nobody who thinks he is bad is going to be able to make him go away through silence.

If he's staying in the spotlight because of all of the millions of people who think he is great, and we don't point out how he is covered in shit, there's less chance he will ever come to understand that he is covered in shit.

I'm thinking it has to do with the fact that he became so famous/successful at such a young age (I admit, I'm pretty jelly), and that his fanbase consists of mainly obnoxious tween/teenage girls (though who isn't obnoxious at that age?).

In general is it not cool to be successful and untalented. Even if it isn't the intention it is kind of a slap in the face to all the talented unsuccessful people.

Not one bit. Those who are commenting on Bieber's talent obviously realize that there are more talented people out there, but don't want to realize that Bieber just happened to get really lucky. It happens to all of the famous artists -- there will always be people that think x undeserving of their fame because less-popular-y is 100x better.

Some of the most humble artists are actually intelligent enough to realize that they have potential, but need to simply be patient for their talents to be realized.
