ROFLMAO Nope Mad_poodle isn't pulling your leg. $3 an hour for us, and that's CANADIAN, meaning it costs like...$2 American about...Very Cheap and worth it too. Our arcade that charges $3/hour (called Wonderland) has been going on a savage Bemani rant lately. Brought in Guitar Freaks a while ago, just got a DrumMania machine (not sure which mix...) and there's a rumor that IIDX is coming too
Yeah, but you have to share. The whole time at the arcade you might not even get a game in because people whore the machines. And I know you whore it when you get the chance hahaha.

no one really cares if you've never even played before, sometimes you can convince people to teach you. when i started out, i didnt realise there was a beginner mode. hmm.. im still not too good, but then again, i dont play too often.

Varia, you don't have to worry about machine whores, you're forgetting, not only does that arcade have two machines, but I live in a SMALL city. It's actually quite quiet there, but lately it's been getting more popular, which would be why the arcade is going on a savage bemani rant.

The arcade play here is so expensive...i hate it :P

But yea, the first time I played I beat beginner stuff with ease, so I put it on light and did fine too. I tryed standard and got like B's and stuff...good fun. Then I started getting into ddr.

But yea, you can play no matter your level i guess. Just don't walk onto the machine and have no idea what to do I guess. XD

Seriously this area has to be like the least DDR friendly area ever. For one, i'm older, so not many people my age are like "that game seems cool." Actually, most of my friends make fun of me for playing. They believe that game is for 12 yr old asian kids. Actually, that seems to be the general idea around here. I hardly ever seen people playing DDR, and if they are, they're usually more embarrassed to be seen playing the game, than doing bad at it, which they usually are. I did a couple standard and a couple light songs one day, with x2, something hardly anyone uses around here, and people thought i was some dancing god, that's pretty sad.

So basically, just be lucky that the game is at least appreciated in your area. Also, 20 machines?! in a single place?! OMG! man, in a city of 400,000 we have 3, count em, 3 machines. One in the mall, one at a family fun centre, and one in a cafe type deal. That just shows you how popular the game is around here.

also...

Home pads also tend to be a smaller than the original arcade size (unless you have a metal pad, which not many people do/ can afford).
My ghetto soft pad is actually BIGGER than the arcade pad, When i played at the arcade, i was like "Ooh, this is comfortable,

I've only DDR'd at my arcade like...5 times. I don't remember the cost at all. I did a few songs with a friend and we were laughing and fucking eachother up too much haha good times.

I'm gonna try out DDR again this summer.

Yeah, as it's been said, you should just have fun on your first time. There's no point cussing at the game because you can't follow the arrows. Just practice, and things'll get easier as you go. Arcades are a better adjustment to start on too. At least, playing a little, then going back home to practice. But the arcade is where the fun's at. ^^

Anyway, there's too many arcade machines over here. There's one that runs $10 days where everything's on freeplay, and with that one-time fee, you can play until you collapse. Fun times. . I need to play more. .

To play ddr at the arcade you gotta have some skillz...

- You must be able insert coins into a machine
- You must be able to step on plastic arrows
- You must be able to take the occasional insult from people you don't know, shouldn't care about, and most of whom you will never see again.

Sounds easy doesn't it? Ironically enough many people find it quite hard.

wtf on the 20 machines in one place, even places like circle center in indy only have a couple, but I do live in central illinois, so I wouldn't say there is to much of a DDR scene, untill you get into chicago at least.

Regina is the smallest city ever, probably like 1/3 the size of Calgary! And yet we have like 8 DDR Machines here, 'tis awsum.

Doesn't matter how good you are now... No matter where you go, there will always be those 4 - 10 people that can do heavy or whatever for an A on anything. Can't really show off anymore. Blah.

G'Day.
