Re: Rubix DOMINATED
I've fullcomboed VBeta vROFL before, but the score was removed due to DS usage. The problem is that past a certain point it's obvious that DS is used (mainly high boo counts/low misscounts). Few people have passed vROFL, and even fewer have FC'd (so far I only know of myself).
"2445 1218 934 19 1861 4199" A boocount of 1800+ implies some srs DS'in. But since I've FC'd with DS, the answer is no. :P Even if you mash the whole song, it's tough to get over 1000 boos, and even tougher to get a low misscount (without DS). Sprite and I have both gotten 2k+ combos without DS, but it's downright painful.

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
I'm close to a single digit miss, my best is 11, but I'm sure eventually I can FC with DS.

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
You have to quadhold the WoD, though, keep in mind. The toughest part of FC'ing vROFL is switching from DS to a correctly-timed quadhold that not only continues the combo but also sails through the wall properly. There are only a couple frames where this is possible afaik.

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
Really? I got 11 misses without holding, it was legit mashing haha.

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
Unless you're somehow able to break my vibration maxima, lol. I have the WoD isolated in its own file on my old offline FFR practice engine, and I've never been able to FC it by DS mashing alone (I've come close but it always sneaks by in the end no matter how hard I go -- and this is ONLY doing the WoD without getting tired from the rest of the song beforehand).

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
It's possible that I could be a tad faster in that, I was really stunned when I almost got SDM without holding, since I don't know when to hold anyways lol. Oh well, in due time. xD

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
The WoD is like a 15-frame-thick glut of 1-framers for each finger. At 30 FPS, that means all 15 frames will rush by in half a second, meaning a maximal requirement of being able to tap 30 times per second per finger (not a human feasibility on a keyboard) -- but with DS, you can still cut that down to 15 taps per second on both hands on two keyboards, which is still extremely hard to do (hard to hit even 16-17 on one hand with the thumb adding to the forefinger vibration). This also assumes alternating input vibrations.
You can, of course, factor in that this would be optimized if you started hitting in the Average window and then used the remaining 6 windows to maintain combo, but the problem is that FFR doesn't allow you to hit twice per frame. With one-framers, that means if you're not hitting it immediately, it's moving up. And this means you can't "force the wall back down" with multiple hits. In other words, the extra windows don't help you much because ANY pause in your vibrating (across both keyboards) that exceeds 0.03 seconds will allow the wall to creep up in a way that doesn't let you maintain its progression -- it's a natural limitation of the FFR engine due to the large, discrete nature of the frame spacings. tl;dr you're still going to need to be vibrating extremely quickly and consistently to nail the wall with mashing alone. I was never able to do it but I might try again soon. But keep in mind that a SDM on the wall is still a fairly significant chunk (like a sixth or so).

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
Try starting a new song, quadholding, then keeping the keys held and replaying that song. If done properly, you should fail out in less than a second with a boocount around 70-80+ (if your kb doesn't support quadholding you'll get like 36-40). Now try to achieve that by DS mashing. Post your comparisons, if you can -- your findings should be comparable to my own.

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
I actually remember reaching the WoD, quadholding and i simply just boo'd out and died. ?_?
Is there a way to get the file with that section alone? Last edited by Etylukah; 10-18-2010 at 01:12 PM.. |

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
You'll never boo out from quadholding the WoD because there aren't any spaces in the wall to actually boo out (minus like two negligible two-framed gaps in the wall itself). You fail the WoD because too many arrows are missed all at once once the wall creeps up past all possible hittable windows.

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
Yeah I posted a file a while back but nobody seemed to really be into piecewise song practice. I had files like Death Piano, Crowdpleaser, vROFL, La Camp, Winter Wind Etude, Kidney Stone, and RATO split up into convenient "practice pieces" but again, nobody really bothered to play them for some reason. Not sure if the links are still live anymore.

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
What's funny is how I didn't need to use the SM file for RATO (I do have it) to do good on the file in FFR

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
WOD is 32nds, yes? (A 64th jumptrill, anyway.) If you are DSing and can quad vibrate at 200bpm 16ths you ought to be able to do a nonhold FC with luck. But maybe it's harder than that due to frame rules.

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
I'm pretty sure the "64th" leading into the 4th quad at the very end of the WOD is a zero framer so that could really **** things up.

I'm gonna look at it, and see if it is, just to clarify.

Re: Rubix DOMINATED
No. All zero framers in vROFL are near the start of the song. Ever since the avmiss fix, zero-framers have been rectified. You'll still have two arrows occupying the same spot, but now you can hit each one without any forced miss.
