26NPS - anything faster and I can't combo most patterns at all anymore, probably a reading issue but idk

16ths with no jumps at N bpm is N/15 nps. 16ths that alternate jumps at N bpm is 6 notes per beat, which means N/10 nps. 24ths with no jumps at N bpm is N/10 nps. 24ths with a jump on every 8th is 8 notes per beat, which means N/7.5 nps. 24ths that alternate jumps at N bpm is 9 notes per beat, which means N/6.67 nps. I can hit 13 nps.

Re: What NPS are you comfortable hitting?
Here I'll show you a few it involves actually counting arrows i warn you though!:
this picture is at 60bpm (the segment has exactly 1 second), the jumpstream is on every 8th note and if you count the arrows there are 8 http://i.imgur.com/KQrns9T.png same bpm 24ths no jumps has 7nps http://i.imgur.com/ZPj3qkG.png This segment is exactly 1 second long at 240bpm with a jump on every 8th note http://i.imgur.com/9kVxT25.png counting the arrows results in 26nps with 24ths the nps would be 25nps http://i.imgur.com/AJrM5aG.png admittedly i'm off by 1nps with the 24ths calculations but it's less confusing to group them together instead of saying a 24th stream with exactly 1 jump every second (which would result in the extra 1nps needed) i don't understand your pictures entirely because you did not explain exactly how long each segment was at each bpm

Re: What NPS are you comfortable hitting?
... classic fencepost error. You're counting the notes at the beginning of the next second. So you end up slightly wrong. Just run your method again for a 2 second section of the same pattern, and you'll see a different nps, because your method is wrong.
Let's say you're counting the notes in beat N. So you look at "Current Beat" for each note. If it's greater than or equal to N and less than N+1, it's inside beat N. If the current beat for a note is equal to N+1, it's in beat N+1, not beat N. Your method counts the notes that are at beat N+1, so it comes up wrong. Oh, and my pictures are simple. Each one shows one measure (4 beats) filled in with the pattern. Then you have the "at N bpm this is N/15 nps" part. That means that if you see that pattern at 60 bpm, you take 60 and divide by 15 to calculate the nps.

Re: What NPS are you comfortable hitting?
lmfao thanks for pointing that out haha
readjusted to subtract whatever arrows were at N+1 this should be more accurate 6nps=60bpm jumpstream with a jump on every 8th note, or 24ths at 60bpm(90bpm 16ths) 12nps=120bpm jumpstream with a jump on every 8th note, or 24ths at 120bpm(180bpm 16ths) 18nps=180bpm jumpstream with a jump on every 8th note, or 24ths at 180bpm(270bpm 16ths) 24nps=240bpm jumpstream with a jump on every 8th note, or 24ths at 240bpm(360bpm 16ths) 27nps=270bpm jumpstream with a jump on every 8th note, or 24ths at 270bpm(405bpm 16ths)

Re: What NPS are you comfortable hitting?
With sprindex I can 18nps all day (270BPM) when fully warmed up, and can play up to 21nps (315) without cbrushes.

Re: What NPS are you comfortable hitting?
Fastest I can FC for long periods is about 12 (Emerald Sword). 14 is about the maximum I can hit for a while and still expect a decent score (Strangeprogram comes to mind). I can do 16 only in short bursts, and anything above that is generally lolnope

Re: What NPS are you comfortable hitting?
this question won't tell you much because you haven't specified the categories well enough
spread NPS will have several speed types (burst speed and stream speed) but will also work on different muscle areas -- alternations/trills (like QP --> WO --> repeat) at very fast speed will depend on extensor capability while jackhammers will depend on wrist capability quite a bit this says nothing of speed for different playstyles, and I don't think you asked that I am "D5" on index solely because of my scores on certain songs that have very hard jackhammer patterns, like Club and Aim Anthem. however, I only recently actually tried playing spread for the purposes of getting better at it, and have been doing this for *maybe* two months plus another month of fucking around on it. even though I've played games like Stepmania on-and-off for ten years, I've had collectively maybe 3 months of spread experience. there was a period where I was D3 at most, but D5 on index merely due to songs with tough jackhammers. so, my jackhammer speed would be way, way higher than my alternation speed. this means that a pro spread player could hit a faster NPS than me during jumpstream -- a lot faster -- but if we just vibrajacked 4 notes at once, I could have a theoretical max NPS that's a lot higher. like, I can main a consistent, high-MA vibration at 180 bpm 16ths for at least a minute, because that's the kind of muscle movement I've practiced over the years. if I did this with one hand, that's, what, 48 NPS? but that's not going to tell you shit about how fast I actually hit notes with quality movements. and I mean, on index, I can hit 280 bpm 16th trills for pretty long periods of time. that's 18.66 NPS on its own. if I just turned that into [1+2 --> 3+4 --> repeat] on spread I'm up to 37.32 NPS. but that's not reflective of my jumpstream speed because jumpstream works a very different set of muscles, and since so many spread charts involve jumpstream, I could be complete dogshit at spread but claim 37.32 NPS. to get some idea of overall speed, you'd have to break this up into categories like: spread -- trill speed, one hand, 60 seconds / 10 seconds / burst spread -- trill speed, both hands, 60 seconds / 10 seconds / burst spread -- jumpstream, 60 seconds / 10 seconds / burst spread -- single-note stream, 60 seconds / 10 seconds / burst spread -- jackhammers, single-note, 60 seconds / 10 seconds / burst spread -- minijacks, single-note, 60 seconds / 10 seconds / burst and so on, for each playstyle. |

Re: What NPS are you comfortable hitting?
Good points archowl! I wanted to go for something simpler however and just have people explain how they achieve their nps afterwards. The reasoning is to try and get as much feedback as I can in a fairly effective way. I did specify a little bit that you should be able to consistently hit 500 combos with your preferred nps. So if you can hit 500 combos using a vibro wall at 180 bpm and say you hit 48nps, first of all nice stamina and consistency and thanks for the feedback :P

Re: What NPS are you comfortable hitting?
Probably something around 16-19 right now. Once it starts getting to 190bpm+ I find it really hard to read for some reason.

Re: What NPS are you comfortable hitting?
Vibro: 56nps (210 quad jacks) for about 10-20 seconds, get speed drop afterwards.
Streams: 24-26nps depending on how spread out the patterns are between fingers Jump Stream/dumps: 25-28nps depending on how wrist jackable they are |
