Depends on the point of view whether or not it was wrong... but absolute disqualification after all of the work put in so far seems too heavy to punish a joke that can easily be viewed differently.

If someone sets their listed age to under 13, makes threads about being under 13, and maintains that they are under 13 even if they aren't, chances are quite good that they'll get UUA banned.

Maintaining repeatedly that you're cheating, and letting those claims sit for any length of time was pretty much asking for it.
