Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
It's not like you've made more then 3 enjoyable files yourself. I've made charts and I lack experience in making them. But I think after 6 years of playing I'm pretty ok with being able to say people who make charts that are expected to be annoying/aidsy/boring/ect. The "imo" should be assumed.

Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
Well how about submitting something first. Start from step one, and then your opinion can -begin- to gain whatever little credibility you've had to begin with.
The purpose of this thread is that hi19hi19 is basically on his way to make a v2 of Revolutionary Etude...an improvement of sorts. You on the other hand have contributed little more than a crass attitude. Last edited by bmah; 08-9-2011 at 01:41 AM.. |

Hopefully the second half of the song won't have total aids transitions (yeah I went there), but in any case I'm looking forward to seeing the final product.
Also, signing up to playtest cuz I is masochist |

Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
I'm more than willing to take a look at this v2 to help it become finalized. I wanted to undertake this project at some point, but never had a good piece of audio (hence the attempt at a good .midi file, which CANNOT be made). Revolutionary Etude has needed a more up to date file.
(Side note: Silvuh - do you still have my Molto Vivace v2 file? I lost it due to a hard drive failure, and it'd be nice to have it back. Also, I could use some syncing help - I can sync, but you can sync better.) |

Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
I really don't see this new file being something that's going to be scary at all. I haven't seen what hi19hi19's stepped for the second half and stuff yet, but it can't be that bad. The polyrhthms can't really be stepped because the left-hand notes there are so muddled.
Yeah, it was last edited on January 29th, though, so I don't know how much progress is lost there... I could upload it and link you to it or e-mail it to you or I could send it through AIM or anything. AIM would be good if you wanted to talk about syncing, too. |

Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
I don't think I've ever announced this before, but FFR actually does not have permission for the recording. We threw it on there before we knew the difference between a recording and a composition, and no one ever bothered to question it.
Were we to even ask for permission, I haven't the slightest idea who we'd contact. I found the mp3 from a Japanese website hosting the IIDX 6th style OST just after it had come out, and that particular recording was in a "bonus tracks" section titled "REVOLUTIONARY" in obnoxious Japanese-keyboard capslock. If you want to go legit about this, your best bet is to have someone here remake the MIDI into a digitized MP3 and provide you with the BPM changes. However, given that Revolutionary Etude has been on the game for eight years without the performer of this piece saying a word, I'm pretty sure you'll be fine if you just use the current recording. Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
Mostly cause it's old. I'm not going to say it's bad because of how it was done back then. I mean the song's only kind of interesting, I never really saw why anyone stepped it in the first place. But that's just me.

Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
Yeah not denying that. Arch's file was a pretty big deal when it came out; that doesn't change the fact it's old and bad and deserves a good v2.
And it's stepped because it's a very well known classical melody (even if most people don't know the actual name of the song.) Plus it's rlyfast, and everybody likes rlyfast music right!?

Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
Revolutionary Etude was regarded as bad even by the 2003 criteria for "good files". Like, my mom thought the jumpjack section was pretty stupid, and I'm pretty sure my mom doesn't know how to make files.
It got on the game because we needed a gigantic difficulty spike, not because we were looking for a specific kind of file at the time. In fact, the idea of "good" or "bad" files wasn't something that came about until people started using the KBMP as a baseline. The idea of standards, which imply quality, nevermind the idea that some standards improve over time didn't even come about until everyone switched to spread in 2006 and had some past to compare to. |

Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
Yeah we don't have permission for revo/mw/caprice/fotbb/rondo/etc (from performers).
But we're leaving them as they are for now since we've never got claims about these ones for 8+ years (restepping these songs are ok too). |

Re: Revolutionary Etude v2
Silvuh was kind enough to send me back my chart for Molto Vivace [v2]. I might as well take the time to finish it before the next batch comes out.
