Did you send both songs? I don't see the song "F". What you've sent were:

Tied The Room Together (Jake Ferguson).zip
Tied The Room Together [NEWER VERSION] (Jake Ferguson).zip

Also, what version of It Tied The Room Together should be used? Please specify. I'm going to assume it's the latter file.
Oops...alright, sent another e-mail with F and the version of Tied The Room Together that I want to be judged. Please ignore both of the ones in my first e-mail, I don't want there to be a mix up since the "Newer Version" isn't actually the newer one.

Sorry for the mess-up.

Geez these queues opens up so randomly. There should be some kind of notification that warns users ahead of time when a queue will be opening rather then changing the title and hoping that every user will see it and submit on time.

It does not seem fair for those who have been waiting for this queue (and previous queues) to open for months and was never aware that it was open in the first place. Keep in mind that we only have a short amount of time to step and submit something before this queue closes again for like another 2-3 months.

Oh sure, people could just step something for FFR and save the file until another batch opens but sometimes, people forget or just decide to wait until the next batch opens before they decide on rather to step something or not. This may not be a problem to those who steps files for FFR before the batch opens or people who can step fast but for others, especially people who never/almost never visit this thread or people who are new to submitting a file for FFR, they need to be reminded somehow. This is a problem because it shows a lack of communication from staff members to users and it makes it look unprofessional quite frankly.

One more thing before I go away, this is one question I see almost every time I visit this thread before a batch opens:

"When will the next batch open?"

The typical responses you would hear from staff/people who are in charge are:

"soon"

"not for a while"

"i dont know"

"whenever Jimerax feels like it"

and sometimes, they will just tell you to keep checking back this thread which is not convenient and a waste of time.

In conclusion, this is a problem and it needs to be fixed. End of rant. Peace.

EDIT: I must say that this queue has slowed down in submissions due to school starting for some people and I have noticed that the deadline is more reasonable so I will give props for that. If I have time, I will step and submit something.

It is not my goal at all to derail this thread, but I have to agree with Rebound. Even though us regular users (I suppose) all knew the queue would open around the end of August, I don't really think the way the batch opens is noticeable enough. I think I remember the administrators of the event saying this was a way to prevent people from sending too many files and us judges getting overflowed, but I believe that is a poor decision to do so if that's really the reason behind this whole subtlety going on.

Here's what I'm suggesting. We could use a signal as simple as changing the color of the FFR banner on the front page with a simple message to say the batch is open, etc. That would be simpler than a full fledged front post/send a PM to everyone and I think would be a very effective way to get the people's attention. We could still easily maintain the amount of files limited per batch (this time it's 100, it could still be 100 for the next batch) and keep the 24h rule as well, since that system seems to be working fine for everybody. So the only difference wouldn't be how many files we'd have to judge, but more how fast the queue fills up. Even then, I don't think we'd overflow that much. Those who were waiting for the queue to open would logically have their files already stepped and ready for submission, whereas those who had no idea we had a batch system/are new to the whole fray would have to hurry up and would still be as unlikely as they are right now to get one of their files to be judged. All in all, it would only make things more fair.

tl;dr I think a batch-opening signal system shouldn't affect the volume of the files to review for the judges and also shouldn't affect your chances of getting a file in.

Now, why hasn't this system already been implemented and what am I missing that the admins seem to despise with this idea?

If the judging system was like keybeat's, this problem wouldn't exist :3

Program that lists all new submissions to judge as they come. Judges put up their results in system, file is automatically passed or failed based on game manager's decision based on judgment. Judges play files as they come occasionally rather than play huge batches at a time. Those who judged for kbo know what I'm talking about. It worked really well

I was not aware that KBO had such a system, if implemented, it would indeed be a good option indeed. As of this moment, though, it might be a bit radical of a change and I think the main problem the admins could have with it is to limit the amount of submissions somehow. I think that, if they are listening and thinking about changing the way we start batches, the best way to begin would be progressively with the simple tweak I suggested.

indeed

I don't understand why the submissions close anyway, it's a ****ing email address and you can just say "Hey we're starting our next batch in 24 hours" and then take all the previously sent stuff and then if someone is late, it automatically gets put into the next batch. I dunno why you'd ignore submissions that were sent before the batch being open, but whatever.

best judging system: osu's

there's two simfile databases, judged and nonjudged. when you put something up it goes in unjudged, and to be considered for judging it has to be the equivalent of 'liked' by helpers and then there's a cycle of criticism/fixing until it's put in the 'quality assured' pile of files
also each file gets its own thread to discuss it in

also I think that since osu is harder to chart for and it's easy to make objective rules to filter out crap that can be checked by a program (for example, distance between notes that are fast not being proportional to their temporal distance, more notes being on one side of the screen than the other, etc) there's less crap in the first place hehe
